The Brink Adds Tai Chi To Ever-Growing Wellbeing Schedule

The Brink has added an eclectic Tai Chi workshop to its ever-growing wellbeing program.

In a bid to offer a creative outlet to its participants, Liverpool’s only dry-bar is set to host a six-week Tai Chi course with a free taster session taking place on Wednesday, June 14.

Heading the inaugural workshop at the Parr Street venue is Angela Howarth, who is an internationally acclaimed gold-medalist in the London Competition for Traditional Tai Chi Chuan. The talented trainer has also won a duo of bronze accolades in the prestigious British Tai Chi Open Championships.

Events Manager at The Brink David Barnicle said: “Here at The Brink, our main focus is on wellbeing and recovery, and with this in mind we like to incorporate a number of activities and events into our calendar to encourage our visitors to enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle. Our ‘Introduction to Tai Chi’ course will begin with a taster session on June 14, followed by class one on June 21 and will thereon run every Wednesday for six weeks.

We’re very excited to have Angela on board, as not only has she been teaching Tai Chi for fifteen years, she has scooped an impressive array of medals including two golds, two silvers and a bronze in the London Competition for Traditional Tai Chi Chuan, together with two bronze in the British Tai Chi Open Championship held in Oxford. As part of the workshop here at The Brink, Angela will demonstrate Tai Chi techniques and practises, in addition to relaying the ample health benefits of the exercise.”

The ‘Introduction to Tai Chi’ course joins The Brink’s already eclectic wellbeing events schedule, which includes a range of activities including Garden Club, Singing for the Soul, Morning Meditation and Yoga to name a few.

Tai Chi instructor Angela Howarth said: “Tai Chi is a traditional form of martial arts which has been practised for hundreds of years. The benefits of Tai Chi include harmony of the internal energy systems, relaxing and meditative qualities, together with a higher level of wellbeing – all of which fit perfectly in line with The Brink’s ethos of encouraging a healthy way of life. I’m looking forward to beginning the course and meeting our participants!”

For those who’d like to try out the exercise before committing to the course, The Brink will host a taster session on June 14, which will be free to attend.

The six-week Tai Chi course is priced at £25 and will run from Wednesday, June 21 for six weeks and will take place every Wednesday from 6.45pm – 7.45pm.
