Spoilt for choice is an overused phrase but there is no better way to describe the amazing days out and events to enjoy in Southport in 2024.
Southport boasts an array of fabulous and diverse attractions in an area blessed with some of the region’s greatest attractions and one of the most beautiful and expansive coastlines in the country.
And this year there are so many event options to consider including firm favourites – the spectacular Southport Flower Show returns for its 100th anniversary; British Musical Fireworks Championships and fantastic Southport Airshow.

1. Southport Food and Drink Festival (31 May – 2 June)

There’s a lot on offer at the Southport Food and Drink Festival. Indulge in street food delights like crepes and churros, and savour artisanal treats such as handmade cheeses and pies. Enjoy the amazing food whilst listening to live music and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.

2. Seaside Weekender (8 – 9 June)

Get ready to party at Seaside Weekender. On the Saturday, experience Save the Rave – a day of 90s tunes sure to get you dancing. Whilst on the Sunday, Tribute Festival hits the stage, with all your favourite tribute bands performing for the whole family to enjoy. From nostalgic tunes to power anthems, Seaside Weekender is sure to be a hit.

3. Dogs Direct UK Festival (29 – 30 June)
Victoria Park, Southport, PR8 2BZ
Dog lovers you’d be barking to miss this! A weekend that is sure to be packed with thrills, insights and tail-wagging fun. Guest speakers have already been announced including ITV’s Dr Scott Miller and John Allison from the K9 Way who will be sure to provide great expertise. There will also be demonstrations from the West Lancs dog display team, Ann DeRizzio’s ‘Dancing with Dogs’ and so much more.
Cost: Adult day tickets from £10, adult weekend tickets from £15. Children’s tickets from £5, under 5s are free
4. Southport Air Show (13 – 14 July)
Southport Seafront, Southport, PR8 1RY
A fantastic day out for the whole family. Get ready to be swept off your feet with a day packed full of excitement and thrills. From flight simulators and static aircraft to explore to climbing walls and plenty more. This is on top of an amazing flying programme that will leave you in awe.

5. Southport Flower Show (15 – 18 August)

Head down to the Southport flower show for a blooming lovely time. It’s their 100th anniversary this year so expect big things! Wander around the beautiful show gardens, explore the Grand Floral Marquee full of beautiful flowers and plants or head to the food village to enjoy some of the nation’s most loved chefs cooking live. There are also a range of fun activities for everyone, and fantastic guests including David Domoney and Phil Vickery.

6. Southport Classic and Speed (15 September)
Victoria Park, Southport, PR8 2BZ
A paradise for anyone with an interest in classic cars. Southport has a strong heritage of motoring and motorsport and this excellent event builds on this strong history. There will be a centerpiece featuring a themed display of veteran, classic and modern cars, a great selection of food and drink and a fantastic shopping village. The day will end with a grand parade giving you the opportunity to see these stunning cars in action.

7. British Musical Fireworks Championships (20 – 21 September)

Experience the magic as fireworks are launched to music in a fantastic, choreographed show in this pyro musical competition. Providing the most spectacular fireworks you’ll ever see, it’s definitely one to see. Throughout the competition over two tonnes of explosive material are used with the total weight of fireworks over 10 tonnes!

8. Southport Comedy Festival (27 September – 13 October)

Get ready to roar with laughter! After an incredibly successful 2023, Southport Comedy Festival returns in 2024. The line-up is already looking great with big names including Omid Djalili, Jenning When and Dan Nightingale. With comedy to suit everyone’s tastes you’ll be left rolling in the aisles.

9. Southport Triathlon (19 May)
Waterside Lodge, Marine Drive, Southport, PR8 1RY
Get set for excitement and triumphs at the Southport Triathlon. Attracting athletes of all abilities across two races: the Sprint Distance and the Standard Distance, it is one of the biggest events in the North West. Entry is open until 16 May for those who want to participate or head down on the day to soak up the atmosphere and show your support. Don’t miss out on the action.
