5 Best Cities In The UK To Visit This Summer

When we talk about top tourist destinations worldwide, the UK is the first option for many travellers. The United Kingdom is a great place to visit as it offers excellent holiday destinations for anyone, including couples, singles or families. From vibrant cities to mediaeval towns, UK  destinations are characterised by beauty, charm and stunning landscapes. Whether checking iconic landmarks off your list, seeing breathtaking views, eating at world-class restaurants or being enchanted by British art or music, there are several activities to attend here. While some cities in the UK are more popular than others, each town has something unique to offer.

It will be great to have time to visit them all this summer, but unfortunately, we don’t have that much time. So, we have prepared a list of five destinations for you that are worth trying in 2023.

Liverpool

Liverpool is a surprisingly beautiful city, offering plenty of experiences, like festivals, exhibitions, good music and many more. The town shares a significant part of history, as it is well-known for its cotton production in the Industrial Revolution, which enabled substantial development and large population growth. Also, Liverpool is a friendly place with warm locals who will always welcome their guests in the best possible way. Plus, it represents the birthplace of the famous band, The Beatles. So, if you are a fan, Liverpool is definitely the best place to visit, because you can go to The Beatles Story, The Cavern Club or Paul and John’s childhood homes. Other important landmarks include the World Museum, The Royal Albert Dock and the Beatles statues.

London

London is one of the world’s most famous and beautiful cities and a top tourist attraction. The city is known for its incredible art, delicious food, stunning architecture and inspiring fashion. One of the most common things to do, presented in any travel guide, is to take a ride to the iconic London Eye, a giant observation wheel that offers gorgeous views. If you want to have some fresh air and relaxing moments away from the city’s hustle, you must go to Hyde Park, one of the capital’s largest and most popular natural areas. The British Museum is also something you don’t want to miss, as it has beautiful architecture and some of the most important antiquities. Plus, entering and seeing the permanent collection is free, so you will also save some money. Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge and the Globe Theatre are also must-see places. You can visit several galleries, attend Shakespeare’s plays, or eat at top restaurants.

If London is just the starting point of your trip, you can leave your car at Parking Heathrow, where it will stay safe until you arrive back. In this way, you will be able to enjoy the other towns the UK offers without worrying about your vehicle’s safety.

Manchester

There are several reasons why Manchester should be on your list of places to see this summer. Its vibrance, incredible architecture and delicious food are just a few. From eclectic bars and restaurants to shops, galleries and beautiful green spaces, there are a lot of things to do and see in Manchester. Since the city is known as a home to some of the best football clubs, it will be a shame not to go to the football museums and stadiums, especially if you are a fan. You can visit the National Football Museum, situated in the heart of the city and discover more about the history of these teams, see impressive collections and have fun playing interactive games. Then, you need to explore the centre’s main attractions, such as Manchester Cathedral, Albert Square, the Central Library or the Castlefield conservation area.

To ensure you don’t miss any museums and tourist attractions, you need to establish some things before you embark on this journey, like what restaurants you want to try, what food you want to eat and where to park your car. Regarding the last, you can check Parkos, as the site has the best options for parking your vehicle safely, and you will not need to worry about it while you enjoy your destination.

5 Best Cities In The UK To Visit This Summer - Edinburgh

Edinburgh

Edinburgh is the best option if you are looking for a vibrant city with stunning architecture, landscapes, rich history, and culture. The capital of Scotland offers many activities, breathtaking Gothic buildings, fantastic museums and several shopping opportunities. The masterpiece of the city is Edinburgh Castle, a tremendous landmark of the town and one of the country’s top attractions. You can’t miss either St Giles’s Cathedral, St Margaret’s Cathedral or Scott Monument. If you are a Harry Potter fan, you must visit Diagon Alley and immerse yourself in the magical vibe of the area. Because J. K. Rowling was living here when she wrote the books, she got much inspiration from the city. The Elephant House is a café where the author spent significant time writing, so you also need to check it.

Also, it will be an amazing opportunity to visit the city in August, as then it is the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The festival is one of the most spectacular celebrations of arts and culture, and it takes over the city across 100s of venues. You can witness comedies, musicals, dances, theatre, cabaret or opera performances.

Bath

Bath is a jewel of South West England and is definitely worth visiting. The town has a picturesque view, elegant constructions and a fascinating past. You could spend an entire day just walking around Bath, admiring the beautiful golden buildings, and still be dazzled by the architecture. Popular attractions are Pulteney Bridge, situated over the River Avon, Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths. You can relax and enjoy natural thermal water in the Thermae Spa (as the Romans did thousands of years ago), visit the beautiful green countryside of the Cotswolds or watch a show at the Theatre Royal. The place was also the set of movies and series, such as Vanity Fair and The Duchess, and books by Jane Austen, like Persuasion and Northanger Abbey.

Glasgow

You can do several activities in Glasgow, from exploring different areas and neighbourhoods to shopping and eating traditional food. Banners with People Make Glasgow are everywhere, and we can see why because Glaswegians are very friendly and funny. This is also why it was named the friendliest city in the UK in 2022, so you can be assured that you will find a warm community that will help when needed. Glasgow has stunning architecture, with a mix of medieval houses and futuristic buildings that will not disappoint.
