Read our 2023 Veganuary in Liverpool guide here.
Veganuary is growing in popularity, with over 500,000 people taking the month-long vegan pledge, this time last year.
An exciting month for anyone interested in veganism, January sees supermarkets, food companies and restaurants launch new products and deals.
We’ve found the best deals, special menu items and product releases in Liverpool, to help give you the best Veganuary yet.
Yard and Coop
Chicken legends, Yard and Coop, have teamed up with Temple of Seitan to provide vegan fried chicken for Veganuary. The exclusive menu includes three options including a kebab and a 12 inch tower burger – and you can get 50% off on Wednesdays. Yard and Coop are kn0wn for excellent Veganuary offerings, with the famous Greta Thunburger released for Veganuary 2020.
Wagamama
Although half of their menu is already vegan friendly, Wagamama have created a brand new dish, just for January. Their take on fish and chips, ‘tempura f-ish and bang bang yaki imo’ is available this month only and looks absolutely incredible. On Instagram, Wagagama described the dish: beer battered fish is replaced with lightly tempura coated f-ish made from soy, rice and pea protein, replacing the taste and flaky texture of fish. Yum!
Bagelry
Bagelry are known for their tasty bagels and completely vegan doughnut offerings. This January, they’re offering the ‘aubergine parm’ bagel consisting of crispy panko aubergine, marina sauce, fresh basil and vegan cheese.
Maray
As part of their Green January campaign, Maray’s veggie and vegan food is half price Monday-Thursday, for the whole month. The offer is valid in all locations: Bold Street, Albert Dock and Allerton. Get your hands on some vegan small plates, perfect for Veganuary.
McDonald’s
Okay, we know they’re a big chain but we had to include McDonald’s. After the McPlant being trialled in locations across the country, it has finally now been released in all locations, including Liverpool. An exciting time for vegans, old and new. Would you try the McPlant? Let us know.
Rudy’s
Rudy’s have brought out two vegan specials for Veganuary: a truffle and chestnut cream pizza, topped with artichoke heart, roasted paprika and parsley, and a mixed pepper puree and vegan mozzarella pizza, topped with roasted broccoli and sliced radish. Don’t miss out, they sound amazing! Available at both city centre locations.
Brewdog
Brewdog have 2-4-1 on all vegan and veggie mains throughout the month, when you book using this link. They’re also offering free refills on alcohol free draft beers, so you can take part in Veganuary AND Dry January.
The Vibe
Despite already being a completely vegan cafe, The Vibe have got involved with Veganuary and brought out Black Forest pancakes, available January only. Gluten free pancakes topped with cherry compote, chocolate and vanilla ice-cream. What more could you want?
Krispy Kreme
Another big chain – sorry – but big news, as Krispy Kreme have released their first ever selection of vegan doughnuts. Flavours are fudge brownie bliss, caramel choc delight, apple custard crumble and original glazed. Head down to their kiosk in Liverpool One!
