New Monthly Dog Walking Meet-Up ‘Paws in the Park’ Launches at Sefton Park Hotel

Liverpool dog lovers are being invited to get together for a new monthly meet-up in Sefton Park, with the first Paws in the Park taking place this September.

Sefton Park Hotel is launching Paws in the Park, a new monthly event bringing together dog owners, walkers and minders for a relaxed morning exploring one of Liverpool’s best-loved green spaces.

The first Paws in the Park takes place on Saturday 19 September at 10am, with dog lovers from across Liverpool invited to come along, meet new people and enjoy a walk with their four-legged companions.

The idea is deliberately simple: grab the lead, bring your dog and let them lead the way.

Participants will meet at Sefton Park Hotel, where they can pick up a Paws in the Park map and complimentary bottle of water, while their canine companions will receive a treat for the journey.

From there, walkers can head out into Sefton Park at their own pace, taking in the surroundings while getting to know other local dog lovers – and hopefully making a few new friends along the way.

Unlike a traditional organised walking group, there is no guided route, set group or pressure to keep up. Paws in the Park has been created as an informal way for people to get outdoors, socialise and become part of a growing community united by a love of dogs and Sefton Park.

Those wanting to make more of the morning can also book breakfast at Sefton Park Hotel before the walk, or head back to the hotel afterwards for lunch and continue catching up while the dogs enjoy a well-earned rest.

Everyone is welcome, whether you’re bringing your own dog, walking a friend’s pooch, working as a professional dog walker or regularly looking after someone else’s pet. There are no restrictions on breed, size or walking pace.

Taking place every month throughout the year, Paws in the Park will also give regular walkers the chance to experience Sefton Park through the changing seasons, from autumn leaves and crisp winter mornings to spring blossom and summer sunshine.

Megan Hanson, General Manager at Sefton Park Hotel, said: “We see so many dog owners and walkers passing the hotel every day and wanted to create something really simple that brings that community together.

“Paws in the Park isn’t an organised walking club. There’s no leader, no particular pace and no pressure. Come along, grab your map and water, pick up a treat for your dog and enjoy the park with other people who love it as much as you do.

“You might arrive knowing nobody and end up walking with a whole new group of people, while your dog hopefully finds a few new walking buddies too. And if you want to make a morning of it, join us for breakfast beforehand or come back for lunch afterwards.”

Sefton Park Hotel hopes the new meet-up will become a regular fixture in Liverpool’s dog-friendly calendar, offering people an easy way to get outdoors, meet others and enjoy one of the city’s most popular parks together.

The first Paws in the Park takes place at Sefton Park Hotel on Saturday 19 September at 10am, with the event returning monthly thereafter.
