Liverpool Tier 3 High Alert Level Coronavirus restrictions will come into effect from Wednesday 14 October.
Boris Johnson has confirmed this afternoon that Liverpool will move into the Tier 3 high alert level due to the high levels of infection within the Liverpool city region.
The new restrictions mean that other households will not be able to meet in indoors or outdoor settings, pubs, bars, gyms, leisure centres, betting shops, casinos and adult gaming centres will be forced to close.
Pubs that serve ‘substantial food’ will be allowed to remain open, along with restaurants, retail outlets, schools and universities.
The rules will come into effect on Wednesday 14 October and could last up to six months, but could be reviewed monthly.
Economic support was announced last week with the Chancellor’s Job Support Scheme which will pay two thirds of the wages of people who are unable to work as well as cash grants of up to £3,000 a month for businesses.
