Cineworld Speke Is Home to Liverpool’s First 4DX Cinema Screen
If you haven’t experienced it yet, here’s your sign: Cineworld Speke is officially home to Liverpool’s first-ever 4DX screen — and it’s transforming the way the city watches blockbuster films.
Launched in December, the immersive format has brought Cineworld’s “extreme cinema” experience to Merseyside, adding a full-body, multi-sensory dimension to the big screen.
So, What Is 4DX?
4DX isn’t just watching a film — it’s riding it.
The auditorium features motion-synchronised seats that move in time with the action, alongside 18 environmental effects including wind, water, scent, fog, bubbles and strobe lighting. Whether it’s a high-speed chase, a dramatic storm or an epic battle scene, you’ll feel every moment.
It first wowed Liverpool audiences with screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash, where flying scenes sent wind through your hair and water sequences brought a fine mist into the air — all enhanced by immersive 3D visuals.
A Major Cinema Upgrade for the City
The installation is part of a wider £35 million UK-wide investment by Cineworld, aimed at upgrading cinemas with cutting-edge technology and enhanced comfort.
For film fans in Liverpool, it means there’s now a brand-new way to experience the biggest releases — without leaving the city.
If you’re looking to shake up your next cinema trip, this might just be the most exciting seat in Liverpool right now.
