Liverpool sensation Jamie Webster is back and better than ever with his new single Just Begun. Released on the 20 May, the track has already garnered significant attention across major streaming platforms, hitting over 60,000 listens on Spotify.
Announced on the same day, Jamie is taking on an intimate UK tour later this year, playing iconic venues including London’s Electric Ballroom and Manchester Academy. He’ll even be heading across the world to perform in Australia, breaking down global barriers.
Getting straight back into performing live, in May, Jamie was a mystery guest at In It Together Festival, Margam, before headlining the Sunday of Neighbourhood Weekender in Warrington alongside Blossoms. Debuting his latest single only a few days after its release, Just Begun received a triumphant reception at Neighbourhood Weekender, cementing Jamie’s return and passion for performing.
“Thanks for sticking with me up to this point. Time to do it all again… just bigger and better.”
An artist that means so much to so many people, the release of Just Begun marks the start of a new chapter for Jamie, with his fourth album Running Round The Sun in the pipeline. The Indie singer-songwriter’s upcoming album propels the movement around his songwriting, as Jamie’s work continues his signature vein of singing for all. The people’s poet, Jamie’s lyrics are grounded, relatable and anthemic, creating a communal comprehension of day-to-day life.
“This album is about trying to make sense of it all […] Life, pressure, expectations, the way things are changing around us and still holding onto who you are through it.”
2026 marks a reflective year for Jamie, as he looks back on the last few years and what it could mean for the future.
His second single, Weekend In Paradise, continued his notoriety after his debut track, and Liverpool Football Club anthem, Allez Allez Allez shot him to fame in 2018. Now a modern Folk classic, with almost 50 million listens, Weekend In Paradise was responsible for creating Jamie’s unique style and gave him the recognition he deserved.
Jamie went on to create several successful albums, and headlined in his home town at Sefton Park in 2024, playing to 32,000 people. These experiences shaped his evolution as an artist in sound and spirit, and have been poured into Running Round The Sun, recorded primarily at Rockfield Studios.
“New album, new tour. Same old me.”
Returning to the single that marks this new era for Jamie, Just Begun is a thoughtful and upbeat track that provides a commentary on everyday life. Considering hardship, politics and community, Jamie’s lyricism is what truly drives the track.
Sustained by a lively guitar riff and punchy drum beats, Just Begun foregrounds Jamie’s songwriting. As the verses speak to struggles faced in the current climate, the song builds to an energetic chorus of hope and ambition.
“I’ve still got so many years / Of running ‘round the sun / I’ve only just begun”
As the song develops, the focus of the chorus changes to you and we. This change in address reflects the belief Jamie has in collective change and achievement, demonstrating why his songwriting resonates with so many people.
The lyrics also draw on his past and upcoming work as he references song titles within the lyrics, returning to the reflective nature of his latest musical chapter.
The bridge cements the song as dynamic and skilful, with layered lyrics and harmonies. Just Begun highlights Jamie’s honesty, positivity and musicianship. An exceptionally well-crafted single, itsignifies a thrilling comeback for Jamie Webster.
“Can’t wait to be back out there in front of you. All the new tunes are absolute smokers and the gigs are gonna be even better”.
