Dealer’s Choice Release Bold New Single ‘Apex’
Liverpool-based duo Dealer’s Choice continue to build momentum with the release of their second single Apex, a confident follow-up to their debut track Some Kind of Way, which generated early buzz across the Merseyside music scene earlier this year.
Comprised of Irish cousins Joe McHugh and Barry Mullaney, Dealer’s Choice occupy an exciting space between alternative and electronic music, blending dancefloor-ready grooves with thoughtful, introspective undertones. With Apex, the pair lean further into their high-energy sound, delivering a track that feels both club-focused and musically refined.
Driven by pulsating rhythms and layered textures, Apex captures the duo’s ambition to create something both nostalgic and forward-thinking.
As Barry explains: “This is a track we’ve been excited to put out to our audience. Out of all the songs we’ve made, and are in the process of making, this is definitely one of the more upbeat and energetic. The initial idea that myself and Joe conceived of, was trying to get a Talking Heads or Arthur Russell song, deconstruct it and then build it back up for the year 2026.”
That influence can be felt in the track’s balance of groove and experimentation, where elements of nu-disco, indie dance and alternative electronica come together to create something distinctly contemporary. The duo’s sound sits comfortably alongside artists such as LCD Soundsystem, Yard Act and The Avalanches, combining danceable instrumentation with a subtle emotional depth.
Following the positive reception to Some Kind of Way, Apex further demonstrates the duo’s ability to craft music that connects both on the dancefloor and beyond. Early support from publications including ASBO Magazine, which described the group as “becoming one of the most talked-about acts in Merseyside”, signals a promising trajectory as they continue to shape their identity.
With an EP scheduled for release in summer 2026, Dealer’s Choice are showing clear intent in defining their sonic direction. Apex builds on the foundations of their debut while pushing their sound into bolder territory, reinforcing the sense that this is a project gaining confidence and momentum with each release.
