GONDOLAS Unleash New Single ‘You Know That’

GONDOLAS are the fiery five-piece band from Liverpool delivering “dirty distorted rock straight to your face“. Belfast-born brothers Ben and Chris are joined by South Carolinian cousin Nick and Liverpudlian long-time friend Tim and Luke.

The band combine influences of classic punk energy, naughties garage-rock grit and modern post-punk moodiness, creating a sound both fresh and nostalgic.

You Know That is the band’s second studio single, released with Ameritz Music on 20th February. Inspired by the likes of Wunderhorse and Fontaines D.C., the band take a different sonic approach this time around, trading their usual garage-rock sound for lush chords, harmonies and wailing guitar leads. Not all the grit is lost, however, with a growly bass line opening up the track, whilst whirring organ chords add an additional flourish to the production throughout.

The lyrics are described as a reflection on “realisation of hubris and wrong decisions, only with the clarity of it being beyond the point from which you can return from them“. The song’s message sits comfortably in the “sweet spot of ambiguity that listeners can derive their own meaning from“.
