The DSM IV & QUJAKU (JP) Announced For Penny Lane Weekender Festival 2025

The Penny Lane Weekender has announced its exciting first wave of artists for this year’s festival, set to take place from 8–10 August across four venues on and around Liverpool’s iconic Penny Lane – Fogherty’s, Tavern Co, Penny Lane Wine Bar, and Dovedale Towers.

Among the highlights is Liverpool-based band The DSM IV, fronted by Guy McKnight, former singer of cult favourites The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. The band is expected to deliver a standout performance, showcasing tracks from their latest release Negative Utopia.

Also confirmed is Japanese experimental psych rock band QUJAKU, marking their Liverpool debut. Known for their intense live shows and sonic experimentation, the Hamamatsu-based four-piece returned in 2024 with the single Ruiteggaakupanshi, released via So I Buried Records, following extensive touring across Europe.

The grassroots festival was established in 2023 by Liverpool post-punk band Pleasure Island and aims to spotlight local talent alongside independent artists from across the UK and beyond.

This year’s initial lineup includes:

PLEASURE ISLAND · TEPID DAYS · EDGAR JONES · BONES · THE FROOBZ · PVC · BLOODWORM · THE DSM IV · DISCO IN SOCHI · CHEERY · EVIL PINK MACHINE · THE DIRT · BLACK BORDELLO · YASWADAH · FALSE THOUGHTS · THIRST · QUJAKU (JP) · HELEN MAW · MODERN MARRIAGE · AUSTERITY DOGS · ZARA SMILE · COW

First release tickets are now on sale for just £10 via See Tickets, offering incredible value for a weekend packed with diverse and dynamic performances.
