Everton To Celebrate Historic Goodbye To Goodison Park At Final Home Game

Everton FC has unveiled plans for an emotional farewell to Goodison Park, as the Blues prepare to play their final home match at the iconic ground on Sunday 18 May against Southampton.

The match, which kicks off at 12pm BST, will mark the end of an era for the Club and supporters, who have called the ‘Grand Old Lady’ home for 133 years. Everton is promising a day filled with memories, emotion, and celebration, both on and off the pitch.

Fans can expect a vibrant build-up as The 1878s supporters’ group leads a special coach welcome to energise the atmosphere ahead of the team’s arrival. Details of the route and supporter guidance will be shared closer to the day.

Following the final whistle, attendees are encouraged to remain in their seats for a post-match ceremony titled End of an Era. Lasting approximately one hour, the celebration will feature guest presenters, appearances from current and former players, live music, and big screen highlights that capture the spirit and story of Goodison Park through the decades.

To mark the occasion, food and drink — including alcohol — will be available after the game, with fans permitted to return to their seats to enjoy the event. Bars will remain open until 2.45pm.

In anticipation of large crowds, Everton and Merseyside Police are urging those without match tickets not to travel to or gather near the stadium, to ensure the safety of fans, players, and local residents.

Supporters have also been reminded that any vandalism or unauthorised removal of stadium fixtures could result in criminal charges and the loss of Season Ticket privileges at the new Everton Stadium. However, Season Ticket Members will have the option to purchase their seat as a commemorative item, presented in a specially-designed Goodison Park box, from Friday 9 May.

The Club also reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on disorder, including racist behaviour, pitch invasions, and pyrotechnics, warning that offences will be met with long-term bans and potential legal action.

Everton thanked fans for their unwavering loyalty and called on the Blues faithful to help give Goodison Park a fitting send-off.

Further details about the day’s programme and ceremony will be shared on Everton’s official website and social channels as the date approaches.
