Dip Into Pride Rainbow Bath Set for Charity Auction to Support LGBTQIA+ Community

The Dip Into Pride Bath, known to many as simply the “Rainbow Bath”, will be auctioned for charity at Adam Partridge Auction House on 6 November.

The brightly coloured bath was originally created in 2023 when photographer and arts producer, Laura McCann was curating an exhibition for Pride. Laura wanted to include something interactive at the event and thought a roll top bath would be a fun way of encouraging people to immersing themselves in the spirit Pride. Whilst working on another Project Laura met local mosaic artist Natasha Ellis and asked if she’d be up for bring the design to life.

Mosaic artist Natasha, who was born and raised in Liverpool and plays an active role in the LGBTQIA+ community said, “I’m delighted with how the public embraced the bath and I’m very gratefully Adam Partridge Auctioneers will be selling the bath commission free, so 100% of the money raised goes to the charity, Sahir.”

Laura, who previously worked with Sahir on the photography series, “The Many Faces Of HIV” which was exhibited at The Museum of Liverpool said, ”Sahir will soon celebrate their 40th anniversary and it’s an honour to raise money and awareness for a charity that has done so much for so many”.

Sahir’s CEO Ant Hopkinson commented “We’re truly delighted to be part of this illuminative art project, celebrating Merseyside’s vibrant LGBTQIA+ community. This collaboration with Natasha and Laura not only showcases the rich diversity of our community but also helps to underscore the vital support services Sahir provides.

Sahir finds itself navigating challenging times and is reliant on the generosity of donors. We hope this project will attract new supporters as every donation is a lifeline – enabling us to continue our mission and foster a supportive environment for those in need.”

Since its completion the DIP Bath has been displayed in the World’s largest LUSH, The Museum of Liverpool, Two St Peter’s square in the lead up to Manchester Pride and it’s spent its final weeks on public display at the iconic Royal Liver Building. On Monday the 4 November it will be moved to Adam Partridge Auctioneers on Jamaica street in the Baltic area of the city for the auction viewing day on Tuesday the 5 November.

Laura previously worked with Adam Partridge Auctioneers when she curated the Paul Curtis exhibition and the artist created a painting to raise funds for two charities. Laura told us, the team at Adam Partridge have been so kind and positive in our bid to raise funds, I’m delighted to be working with them again.

Adam Partridge is one of the UK’s best-known Antiques and Fine Art personalities, and regularly appears as an expert and auctioneer on numerous television shows. Adam commented, “It’s been great to be involved in projects that help raise money for such worthwhile causes. The bath is a one off creation, we’ve certainly not had anything like it in our salesroom before, so we hope as a unique lot it will achieve a good auction price for Sahir”.
