LightNight To Return On 15 May With ‘Home’ Theme
LightNight will return on Friday 15 May, once again keeping the doors to the city’s unique venues, museums and galleries open late to celebrate the arts and culture scene in Liverpool.
LightNight is Liverpool’s one-night arts festival giving visitors the chance to see the city in a new light. The event presents new and ambitious artistic commissions amidst a vibrant programme of more than 100 events happening across the city.
There’s everything from large-scale light projections, live music, workshops, spoken word, art, crafts and theatre, street performance, walking tours, dancing and late-opening exhibitions taking place right across the city centre.
Each year thousands of people take the opportunity to try something new and see something different. It’s the perfect chance to enjoy the bustling atmosphere and experience the city’s cultural offerings after-hours with friends and family.
Each year LightNight focuses around a theme, with this year’s focus on Home which organisers say could be explored through ideas about social identity, inequality, social exclusion and discrimination, human rights, urbanism and much more. Home could also symbolise Liverpool as a city and a community. You can read more about the theme of Home via https://lightnightliverpool.co.uk/festival-theme-home/
LightNight are also looking for volunteers to get involved with this year’s event. They are seeking enthusiastic people who have a passion for Liverpool’s vibrant arts and cultural scene to help out on the night.
All volunteers will need to be available from 4.30pm – 10pm Friday 15 May 2020 for LightNight itself and for one of the briefing sessions, which will take place 6-8pm on 4 & 5 May. The deadline to apply is 15 April 2020. To find out more information and apply to volunteer visit https://lightnightliverpool.co.uk/get-involved/
