Things to do in Liverpool

British Fashion Council Brings Nationwide Style Celebration to Liverpool ONE This September

The British Fashion Council (BFC) has announced that Liverpool will play host to part of its expanded City Wide Celebration this September, bringing fashion events and designer-led talks to the heart of the city.

From 5 – 7 September, Liverpool ONE will become the epicentre of the BFC’s city-wide fashion festivities, joining London, Manchester, and Newcastle in showcasing the UK’s vibrant fashion culture. This marks a significant step for the initiative, which aims to drive public engagement and celebrate British fashion beyond the capital.

A highlight of the weekend will be ‘At Home With’ presented by 1664 Blanc, a new panel series spotlighting regional design talent and the cultural influence of UK fashion outside of London. Liverpool’s flagship event takes place at Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen & Bar on Saturday 6 September (3pm–5pm) and will feature a special panel with acclaimed Liverpool-born designers Patrick McDowell, S.S. Daley, and Talia Byre.

Each designer brings a unique voice and vision to the UK fashion landscape:

  • Patrick McDowell is an independent, sustainable luxury fashion brand at the forefront of creative design. Globally recognised for its commitment to circular business practices and uncompromised quality, the brand consistently pushes boundaries. Patrick McDowell is celebrated for its innovative business model, impactful London Fashion Week shows and for dressing diverse global talent.
  • S.S.Daley (Steven Stokey-Daley), a 2022 LVMH Prize winner, launched his eponymous label in 2020 after graduating from the University of Westminster with a BA in Fashion Design. His work, notably featured in Harry Styles’ music video “Golden,” champions sustainability by utilising donated and deadstock fabrics. The brand reinterprets British heritage and class, gaining recognition in publications like British Vogue and i-D.
  • Talia Byre designs evoke a timeless sensuality, drawing inspiration from family heirlooms and community. Since graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2020, the brand has rooted its design language in rituals and heritage. Named as a tribute to her great uncle’s boutique, Talia Byre creates garments meant to be repaired, shared, and cherished for years to come.

Alongside the designer panel, Liverpool ONE will host a variety of in-store events, fashion activations, and brand experiences throughout the three-day celebration – all free and open to the public. The full schedule of events will be revealed later this summer.

Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director at Liverpool ONE, said: “Liverpool has long been a city that sets trends, not follows them, and fashion is a key part of how we express our creativity and identity. We’re incredibly proud to host the British Fashion Council’s City Wide Celebration and to shine a spotlight on the remarkable home-grown talent shaping the future of fashion both locally and globally.”

The BFC’s City Wide Celebration is part of its mission to make fashion more accessible, collaborative, and inclusive, supported by Principal Partner 1664 Blanc and a host of industry partners and cultural venues across the UK.

Tickets for ‘At Home With’ in Liverpool are free and can be booked via Eventbrite. More details will be available soon via londonfashionweek.co.uk.
