Bongo’s Bingo Bring 90s vs 00s Specials To Content This May

Bongo’s Bingo are welcoming a unique theme for May at Content, blending two iconic decades together like a crazy experiment just to see what happens. Already infused with legendary magic and mayhem, the forthcoming themed shows in Liverpool are a pure distillation of Bongo’s Bingo’s essence, boiled down to its chaotic core. So – what two better decades to face off than the 90s and 00s?

Each is a pivotal period of time, packed with pop-culture chaos, fantastic fashion, technological advances, sporting triumphs, and a liberal sprinkling of political global upheaval for good measure. These shows are going to kick-start the summer with a triple whammy on Friday 29 May then two shows on Saturday 30 May, with all May dates on sale in Liverpool.

First up, the 90s remains one of the truly iconic decades – a halcyon period of relative innocence and the Spice Girls redefining girl power. There were no mobile phones and no social media and TV series dominated: Friends, Twin Peaks, The X Files and The Simpsons formed part of a golden age. Or from Britpop wars and secret raves to Harry Potter. From the 90s, Bongo’s Bingo is bigging up the Backstreet Boys to Nirvana and TLC to 2Pac, all part of the decade which gave dial-up internet and Tamagotchis. What can beat this?

Or… maybe the Noughties is better. Is it? From The Wire, Six Feet Under and Malcolm In The Middle to Donnie Darko, Kill Bill and Shaun of the Dead, don’t forget this era birthed gadgetry including the iPod and PS2. And who could forget Nokia’s classic burner and Snake and limited minutes? It’s safe to say it was a vintage decade, from Hey Ya! And Crazy in Love to Daft Punk’s absolute classic, One More Time. But how will these compare against 90s icons like Haddaway’s What Is Love, Smells Like Teen Spirit and Nothing Compares 2 U.

As always, at Bongo’s Bingo the music’s where it’s at – and of course copious bingo, dance-offs, rave rounds and prizes. Expect all of the usual madness plus special themed prizes and music at these themed specials for the complete immersive experience, with fancy dress very much encouraged to get fully into the mood – but is it going to be 90s or 00s who wins in Liverpool?
