The Kowloons’ ‘Give Love’ Is A Feel-Good Anthem

Merseyside’s fresh faced indie offering The Kowloons latest release injects a generous amount of feel good energy into the city, elevating their rapidly growing repertoire and fanbase.

Give Love relishes in harmonies reminiscent and fitting of the four piece’s influences found in home-grown veterans such as The La’s and The Wombats. With a reflective, laid back essence and acoustic guitar at the forefront the track develops with a refreshing and vibrant quality.

With lifting melodies, the lyrics explore themes of materialism and love in the modern world with lead vocals from Ste Ng in an “outburst of emotions” and a tasteful hint of distortion. “The essence of losing someone you love has been distilled and poured into Give Love” the boys explain. The first hint of the chorus is brief but the chantlike, dream-esque melody lingers long after listening.

Ste and his twin brother Anthony along with guitarist Mason Jones and bassist Bobby Griffins make up the Southport based band, the latter’s father taking the boys under his wing utilising his own experiences as the lead singer of the Real People.

Irrespective of their close connections to Liverpool’s music industry, the Kowloon’s are already quickly establishing themselves on the UK indie scene, tipped as This Feelings ‘Big in 2025’ artist and ‘ones to watch’ by LIMF.

Following on from the success of Can We Go Faster? and Raining (It Don’t Stop), Give Love is the third release from the Southport band’s debut EP and comes after a mammoth home show for the boys supporting The Kairos at the o2 academy in November and a UK tour.

The Kowloons will next perform at Leaf on the 6 December with James Jackson and Miles Temp for See What I See, the monthly event curated by Ellis Murphy.
