Rudy’s Bold Street: Review
When a poll in Italy went out asking what their favourite dish was, “52% of people surveyed said pizza was their favourite, with 39% saying it satisfied them “on an emotional level.” We believe in that sense that Liverpool is very much akin with the 39% that have an emotional connection with pizza. Luckily, you now have an extra option to indulge in, with the recent opening of Rudy’s, Bold Street.
Their spacious new restaurant boasts a panoramic view of St. Luke’s Church (Aka The Bombed Out) along with a tucked-away private area, bar seating and of course plenty of window-side spots to sit and tuck into your favourite pizza. The familiar menu from their Castle Street venue and that irreplaceable Napoli-style dough, which boasts flour direct from Naples, spend around 16 hours proving before getting beautifully plumped for 60 seconds in their 450° pizza oven. As the focal point of the kitchen (and deservedly so) it was brought in from Naples and spent around a week getting up to temperature to ensure it didn’t crack under the heat.
Needless to say, their pizzas are a firm Liverpool favourite, but they’ve also taken inspiration from local breweries, distilleries and bakeries to pull out all the stops to offer the very best that our city has to offer. Chapter Brewing, Neptune, and Blacklodge feature on their beer specials, with spirits being looked after by Turncoat Gin & Murphy’s Gin and featuring heavily for the specially distilled Fennel Gin Limonata and their Cherry & Sicilian Lemon Spritz.
Pizza specials are constantly rotating too so you’re covered from all angles. We opted for a Marinara and Tonno, with that sweet tomato base and host of roquito peppers and crisp red onion being held together by the light and stringy fior di latte mozzarella, although we could quite easily have had 6, and probably will do in the future.
A special mention to Baking Beans Kitchen who supplied the sweet end with their biscoff cheesecake, rounded off nicely with vanilla ice cream topped with hot Italian espresso.
Ensure to stop off before your night out, make it a full evening or just pop in for a drink, the warm welcomes and incredibly talented staff and pizza chefs will go out of their way to look after you and help you to take full advantage of a top-level Neapolitan pizza kitchen right on your doorstep!
