Naomi Campbell Releases Second Solo Single, ‘This is Gold’

Liverpool-based acoustic folk artist Naomi Campbell has just unveiled her latest single, This is Gold, released today (Friday 19 July), marking the second release of her solo venture. Following the success of her debut solo track, Tuesday’s News, which came out in March, Naomi continues to pave her way in the local music scene with this new offering.

Originally from a small town in rural Northern Ireland, Naomi is now an active part of Liverpool’s vibrant musical landscape. Currently, she is primarily known for her performances with the three-part harmony band, Motel Sundown. However, this latest release, alongside her first solo single, solidifies her position as a rising star in the folk music scene, showcasing her prowess as a solo artist.

This is Gold blends Naomi’s distinctive folk sound with subtle Americana influences, echoing the soulful and earthy tones of artists like Emmylou Harris and Etta James. Her new single is a testament to her ability to meld the softer elements of folk with the sounds of classic R&B and soul. This beautiful, dreamy track was produced and recorded between Naomi’s home studio and Lo-Fi Studio with Dave O’Grady (Seafoam Green). Instrumentally, you can hear Naomi on acoustic guitar, percussion and vocals, Robert Johnson on vocals, piano and acoustic/electric/slide guitar and Dave O Grady on slide guitar and percussion.

Naomi has had an impressive few years, having had the opportunity to support several prominent artists across the UK, including Chris Helme of The Seahorses, Texan songwriter John Calvin Abney, and Americana duo Campbell/Jensen, featuring Glen Campbell’s daughter Ashley Campbell and Thor Jensen.

Last year, Naomi performed across Nashville and Memphis, a dream for any folk artist. Whilst there, she recorded her original song, Don’t You Mind, at the renowned Sun Studio. She plans to release a full band version of this single later this year, recorded at Liverpool’s Motor Museum recording studio.

This is an exciting start for Naomi’s solo venture, and we can’t wait to hear more.
