Thom Morecroft Releases New Single ‘The Last Day You Left Home’

Liverpool based singer-songwriter, Thom Morecroft, is back with his latest folk-pop single, released today (1 December). This stunning, stripped back acoustic track brings him back home with a personal story about growing and learning as a person. This follows his previous single, The Beast, which is an emotional powerhouse, live recording that deals with his difficult past.

The Last Day You Left Home suits the autumnal, rainy weather, reflecting the feeling of being stuck inside with our own thoughts. The incredibly mesmerising falsetto vocals Thom gives are the reason he pairs so well with his acoustic guitar and relatable lyrics. His voice allows him to create a bittersweet track that is both simple and compelling. The angelic backing vocals recorded by Thom and Jenny Coyle, both add to the track’s catchiness. Impressively, this track was mixed and recorded by Thom himself at home. The DIY nature of the song almost represents how he is fixing his own life in this new single. The song represents finding your own strength and learning to be happy, with a sense of wanting to learn and grow from previous problems, which is certainly something we can all relate to.

The music video matches the comfort and simplicity of the home-recorded song. During the video, Thom is sitting in a lamp-lit living room with his guitar performing his single. Overtime, certain objects become animated, including himself. His personal journey and accomplishments have a strong presence throughout the piece.

Thom’s portfolio consists of one mini album, two EP’s, one studio album and two brand new singles so far. His experience, hard-work and passion is reflected through his wonderful music catalogue. His latest singles leave you wanting more music from him, and hopefully we will get that soon.
