The Big Guitar-In Fundraiser Returns to Mountford Hall to Save The Florrie’s Community Classes

Liverpool’s record-breaking musical fundraiser, The Big Guitar-In, is back — and this time it’s heading to one of the city’s most iconic venues, Mountford Hall. Taking place on Thursday 11 December 2025, the event marks its fifth year, bringing together hundreds of guitarists for one incredible night of music, community and fundraising to Save The Florrie’s Free Community Classes.

Last year, the event made history when 602 guitarists performed together — and this year, organisers are hoping to smash that record with 603 players strumming side by side. From seasoned musicians to first-time players, everyone is invited to take part in this celebration of community spirit.

The Big Guitar-In comes at a crucial time for The Florrie, which is facing rising costs and a growing demand for its free community classes. These classes provide vital lifelines — helping people learn new skills, stay active, and combat social isolation across Liverpool and beyond.

Timo Tierney, Community Hub Co-ordinator and organiser of The Big Guitar-In, said: “The Big Guitar-In is about so much more than music. It’s about people coming together, celebrating community and showing the power we have when we unite. This year we’re especially proud to give young Liverpool artists the chance to shine, while raising vital funds to save The Florrie’s Community Classes.”

For the first time, the event will take over Mountford Hall, a legendary Liverpool venue that has hosted Queen, The Who and Elvis Costello. Hundreds of local musicians will now get the chance to perform on that very stage — a true bucket-list moment.

This year’s lineup celebrates Liverpool’s next generation of talent, with Ellis Murphy, Louis Gibney, Credits, The Sway and Olga Fitz leading the way. They’ll be joined by local legends Space, Crowded Scouse, Brian Nash (Frankie Goes to Hollywood), and the 601 ½ Choir, alongside surprise guests throughout the evening.

Expect unforgettable group renditions of Liverpool classics like Nothing Lasts Forever (Echo & The Bunnymen), Comedy (Shack) and Space’s Neighbourhood. Chord sheets are already available on The Florrie’s website for guitarists eager to rehearse ahead of the big night.

Tickets are on sale now for both performers (bringing their acoustic guitars) and a limited number of spectators keen to experience the electric atmosphere. Early bird tickets have already sold out, so fans are urged to book quickly.
