Soulside Music Festival Returns to Liverpool with Motown Icons and Disco Legends This July
The sounds of soul, disco and Motown will take over Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle this summer as Soulside Music Festival returns with an unforgettable day of legendary live performances.
Taking place on Saturday 12 July at BOXPARK Liverpool, the Soulside Summer Soiree promises an eight-hour celebration of timeless hits and party grooves. Headlining this year’s festival is none other than Heatwave, the chart-topping group behind disco classics Boogie Nights and Always and Forever.
They’ll be joined by soul icon George McCrae, famed for the global smash Rock Your Baby, along with powerhouse vocalist Angie Brown, known for her electrifying stage presence and dance anthems.
Soulside’s return follows a sold-out debut event in November, which saw nearly 2,000 music lovers pack out BOXPARK for performances from The Real Thing, Odyssey, and Ray Lewis of The Drifters.
This summer’s line-up also features live tributes to Tina Turner and Lionel Richie, plus sets from local talent including Billy Strand and Dance Inc. The event will be hosted by Soulside founder and former X Factor star Gary Barker, who promises a show bursting with energy and emotion.
“I was brought up on soul, disco and Motown music – it’s part of who I am,” says Gary. “This is a passion project for me, and I can’t wait to bring that energy to BOXPARK. We’ve got Heatwave, George McCrae – true legends – and to see them in an intimate venue like this will be really special.”
New for 2025 is the Soulside RnB Garden, a takeover of BOXPARK’s Music Garden, featuring old skool RnB, Hip Hop, Garage and special guest DJ sets, including Liverpool favourites Charlie Cee and Paradisco’s Ant Chandler.
