Motel Sundown Share Uplifting New Single ‘Watch Which Way the Wind Blows’

Motel Sundown’s latest single Watch Which Way the Wind Blows arrives as a radiant prelude to their Signs In The Rush of Light EP, due this Spring — and it’s a beautifully assured statement from a band whose songwriting is something genuinely compelling.

The track pairs an upbeat tempo with the trio’s flawless harmonies, making for a listening experience that feels both buoyant and emotionally resonant. Lyrically, the song explores themes of loss and resilience, but its rhythmic forward motion and bright arrangements ensure the mood stays uplifting rather than introspective.

Produced with a warm, clear touch, the single blends Motel Sundown’s Americana roots with elements of folk-rock and soft-rock, echoing influences like Fleetwood Mac and classic Laurel Canyon harmonies — yet the band firmly stamps it with their own identity. The interplay between acoustic guitar, dobro and fiddle provides a rich backdrop for the vocal blend, elevating the chorus into something that lingers long after the song ends.

This track sets ambitious expectations for the seven-track EP Signs In The Rush of Light. The band have been teasing new material throughout 2025, releasing a series of singles ahead of the full project, and it’s clear they’re refining their sound into something both timeless and distinctly modern.

For fans of harmonically rich, heartfelt songwriting, Watch Which Way the Wind Blows not only delivers on its own merits but also whets the appetite for what Motel Sundown have in store on Signs In The Rush of Light.

You can catch Motel Sundown live later in the year when they play Arc:hive Liverpool on 12 June.
