In Conversation – Keyside

Looking to get obsessed with the hottest band around, look no further than local four-piece Keyside. From jamming post-Pandemic to playing BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, I’d advise you to keep an eye on Keyside. The future is looking nothing but bright for the Merseyside-based band.

Ahead of their busy summer and headline tour at the end of the year, we caught up with them to ask about their journey so far, their inspirations, and the exciting trajectory of the band.

For those who don’t yet know, in your own words, who are Keyside?

Liverpool four-piece blending Northern grit with melodic storytelling. Songs of addiction, hope, friendship, and escape – delivered with soul and swagger.

How much does Liverpool, as a music city, play a part of your identity (if any) as a local band?

Some people say that there’s something in the water, for us it was no choice but to be inspired by the likes of The La’s and The Beatles. The city will always have some of the best bands in the country.

You’ve just been out on your first Uk headline tour; what was that experience like?

It was surreal travelling across the country playing a sold-out tour. We can’t wait to get back on the road.

Keyside – Michael (What’s Your Call) Official Video

What is your favourite song to play in front of fans, which one means the most to hear people singing it back to you?

Probably our latest single Michael (What’s Your Call?), as you really feel a connection with fans who are singing it back to us and it means a lot that people can find some comfort in our song’s.

If you made your own festival of artists you admire – dead or alive – who’s there, and who’s headlining?

The La’s headlining. The Beatles, The Strokes, and Blossoms on the main support.

Finally, for new fans, what can they expect from the next UK headline tour, starting in November?

Chaos!
