Michael Aldag’s ‘Fantasia’: A Synth-Pop Dreamscape For A New Era
Michael Aldag effortlessly spearheaded his way to top of the sonic circuit with his breezy, synth pop since launching his solo career in 2021.
With a rising social media presence and fan base, Aldag utilises his platform with innovative charisma, a position most upcoming artists begrudgingly wince at. But where his online presence is thriving, the Merseyside born artist’s music is equally as burgeoning, gaining millions of streams on Spotify.
Described as the “beginning of a new era” on the ‘gram’, Aldag’s latest release, Fantasia, relishes in its namesake with dreamscape, 80s-esque synths and lulling dynamics. In its brief 2 and a half minutes Fantasia embodies elements of shoegaze and pop with evoking lyricism.
As a songwriter Aldag prolifically cuts deep into his lyrics, revealing a common-ground and vulnerability with his listeners in polished slices of indie-pop. Fantasia is no different, luring listeners into his sonic headspace with nods to modern references to the ‘gram’ into the universal territory of the throes of love – “I can’t lose her”.
After only a week in the world, Fantasia has already made Radio 1 airplay. The beginning of this new era looks promising for Michael, let’s hope there is more to come soon.
