Liverpool’s LMA Dancers Reach Britain’s Got Talent Semi-Finals
Students from LMA Liverpool have taken centre stage on this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, with a powerful ensemble performance that aired on Saturday 21 February, securing their place in the competition’s semi-finals.
The performance featured a cohort of LMA dancers aged 19-24, demonstrating a striking, synchronised routine that placed collaboration, unity and collective storytelling at its core.
Choreographed by internationally renowned artist Sadeck Berrabah, also known as Murmuration, the piece was intentionally devised without soloists, reflecting the realities of professional dance environments and screen-based performance.
Leading the audition student Ruby-Leigh Wilson, with additional contributions from Charlie Newton, Michael Davies and Alexandra Lowe, who offered insight into both the creative process and their training journey at LMA.
Filmed at the popular Winter Gardens in Blackpool, the performance followed an intensive rehearsal period that ran alongside the students’ undergraduate and postgraduate degree training. Beginning at LMA Liverpool’s campus, the process moved to Blackpool for on-structure rehearsals before culminating in the live audition filming, requiring a high level of discipline, adaptability and professionalism throughout.
The experience has been described as ‘transformative’ by those involved, with students reflecting on both the scale of the opportunity and the impact of the judges’ feedback.
“Hearing what the judges said about our performance made us want to push even harder,” one dancer said. “It reinforced why we’re doing this and reminded us that the training we’re receiving is preparing us for the industry we want to be part of.”
Others spoke about how the experience sharpened their ambitions, particularly within television and commercial performance, while also highlighting the value of their training at LMA.
Another student added: “Moments like this make you realise how lucky we are. The level of training, the intensity of the process and the trust placed in us to deliver work at this scale has been incredible.”
The performance marks a significant milestone for LMA Liverpool, showcasing the calibre of talent emerging from the city and the strength of its creative training programmes on a national platform.
Since the audition aired, the students have been filming with Britain’s Got Talent in Liverpool, showcasing key landmarks including the Royal Liver Building.
Kemal Kuguloglu, Head of Dance at LMA Liverpool, explained: “This opportunity has been a huge moment for our students. The level of professionalism, commitment and teamwork they’ve shown throughout this process has been outstanding.
“The piece was built around collaboration, which is such an important part of the industry, and the way the students delivered that on such a large stage is something we’re incredibly proud of. Experiences like this are exactly what prepares them for the realities of a career in dance.”
As the competition progresses, LMA Liverpool continues to celebrate the success of its students, with the group now heading into the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals as one of the standout dance acts of the series.
