Hidden Hair & Beauty Suites Open in Liverpool’s Corn Exchange
Tucked away inside one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings, a quiet revolution is reshaping the city’s beauty industry.
Behind the grand doors of the Corn Exchange on Fenwick Street, Phenix Salon Suites has opened a series of private, fully equipped workspaces for independent hair and beauty professionals—offering a unique alternative to traditional salon setups.
Originally launched in the US and now boasting over 400 locations across America, Phenix has chosen Liverpool as its latest UK destination, joining cities like Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle in embracing the flexible salon suite model.
Each space caters to a range of specialists, from hairdressers and barbers to nail technicians, tattoo artists, lash experts and massage therapists. The concept removes the limitations of conventional salons—there’s no shared salon floor, no rigid rota, and no boss. Instead, professionals get their own self-contained suite where they can run their business exactly how they want.
“Liverpool is a hub for creativity, style and entrepreneurial spirit, making it the perfect place for Phenix to expand,” said John Gillespie, Managing Director of Phenix Salon Suites Europe. “We’re proud to be part of the city’s hair and beauty community, offering professionals the opportunity to work independently, build their own brand and take control of their careers.”
Suites start from just £50 a day and come fully furnished with salon essentials, Wi-Fi, 24/7 building access, utilities and even on-site laundry facilities. Professionals can choose their own hours, use their preferred products, and—most importantly—keep 100% of what they earn.

John added: “Liverpool has over 1,000 active beauty businesses and more than 128,000 beauty-related Instagram hashtags. The city clearly loves its style and self-care. As demand grows for flexible and affordable workspaces, Phenix offers a new way forward.”
For local stylist Jordan Heyes, who runs Jordan Heyes Hair from one of the suites, the move has been transformative. “When I first started out, I was struggling to find the right balance,” she said. “Phenix gave me the flexibility to work in my own suite, set my own hours and build my client base without the huge upfront costs. It’s made all the difference.”
