IAMKYAMI Releases Low-Fi Bop ‘Slow Down’

Native upstate New Yorker IAMKYAMI releases her new single Slow Down (feat. Sonny Miles), a lo-fi inspired bop that relaxes and unwinds.

This week Liverpool-based singer songwriter, producer, presenter and DJ, IAMKYAMI, releases her new single Slow Down (feat. Sonny Miles). With soulful lyricism and a funky mix of flowing melodies, along with her honeyed tones and harmonies, IAMKYAMI’s new track is a treat for the ears.

Originally from upstate New York, she arrived in Liverpool in 2017 to study at LIMF academy and has been making waves in the local music scene ever since. One of the academy’s most promising students, Ky Ami says she takes “experiences from [my] childhood in NY to travelling overseas, the music tells a relatable story in a fresh new way”. A multi-talented performer, IAMKYAMI is a talk show host on Melodic Distraction radio here in the city as well as branching out as a DJ and having had tracks featured on BBC Introducing, BBC 6 Music, BBC 1Xtra amongst others!

The track itself is two and half minutes of tranquil and soothing beats, IAMKYAMI and Sonny Miles’ voices complimenting each other perfectly. The instrumentals of the song are fairly minimalist and stripped down, therefore highlighting the raw talent and sound of the vocals. Reminiscent of tracks like Diddy Bop (feat. Cam O’bi and Raury) by Noname, this track shows us a glimpse of the great potential that Ky Ami has as an artist. It is brilliantly produced, an incredibly easy listen that anyone can enjoy. All you need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the dulcet tones of IAMKYAMI.

Follow IAMKYAMI on Facebook and Instagram for updates, and listen to her slot on Melodic Distraction radio. She’s definitely one to watch!

Slow Down (feat. Sonny Miles) is now available to stream on Spotify
