Rebounding From The Court To Calm: LVP 3×3 Basketball Champions Reset At The Municipal Hotel & Spa

Hidden away in the heart of Liverpool’s bustling business district, where sandstone grandeur meets modern indulgence, lies a sanctuary that feels worlds away from the bump and hustle of a basketball court.

The opulent Municipal Hotel & Spa, with its plush thermal journey is where this year’s LVP 3×3 champions Mbyz, discovered the sweetest victory of all – a well deserved luxurious slice of rest and recovery.

Taking on all challengers at the Toxteth EL8te LVP basketball competition, which plays out on top of Chavasse Park at L1 and sees teams travelling from across the country, had left the players with a few bangs and bruises.

They traded hardwood intensity for the hush of cascading showers and the healing heat of the sauna and steam room.

The journey began in ritual, cleansing beneath the sensory tropical rainfall light and shower experience, before sliding into the gentle heat of the jasmine and honeysuckle laconicum.

Muscles uncoiled, shoulders loosened, and the frenetic rhythm of the game gave way to silence.

For Mbyz Captain Peter Palmer, the effect was immediate: “It feels like every ounce of negativity has dropped out of my body. So good!” His words echoed in the eucalyptus-scented steam room, where deep breaths filled lungs, still sharpened by competition.

Here, recovery transcended the physical; it was about the shedding of weight, not just lactic acid, but the invisible burdens that athletes carry.

Science has long recognised the benefits of heat therapy for muscle repair and circulation. Although the spa’s thermal cycle was also a reminder of presence.

LVP ’25 MVP Kadir Crawford reflected: “Besides the physical benefits for the body, it allows me to stay in the moment. I can erase previous games from my memory. It allows me to be in the moment and stay ready.”

Kadir’s words carried extra resonance: the young talent has just crossed the Atlantic, bound for Ellsworth College in Iowa to take up a place on their basketball programme.

Liverpool’s top tier basketball talent on his way to meet new challengers.

The Municipal Hotel & Spa is more than a place to unwind; it is a space to recalibrate, where heat and water become alchemy for body and soul.
