Gran Caffé Dockside To Open This Sunday: First 100 Guests Will Recieve A Free Coffee, Croissant or Gelato
This Sunday 23 March, Gran Caffè will open its fourth venue in Liverpool, on Jesse Hartley Way, just a stone’s throw from Costco.
Renowned for its Italian coffee, handcrafted pastries, delicious sandwiches served on their homemade sourdough bread, and its award-winning, artisan gelato that’s made in-house everyday, Gran Caffè is a pasticceria – which translates to cake and pastry shop – and has been serving its Italian delicacies in Liverpool for over 10 years.
Opening their doors from 10am on Sunday 23 March, the first guest will be treated to Gran Caffè’s signature giant croissant; a half a metre croissant that’s baked in-house and is arguably the biggest in the UK.

The following 99 will receive a complimentary coffee of their choice or one of their freshly baked croissants or a scoop of artisan gelato with a variety of unique flavours to choose from.
Owned by Italian brothers Paolo and Donato Cillo, Gran Caffè first opened in Williamson Square as part of the popular Italian Quarter over 10 years ago.
The new venue on Jesse Hartley Way, Park Central, marks the third Gran Caffè within Liverpool City Centre, joining the Italian Quarter and Duke Street. Gran Caffè is also available on South Liverpool’s bustling Lark Lane.
But this will be the first site where the family bakery is connected to the site, allowing guests to enjoy fresh pastries, cakes and coffee at Gran Caffè before heading next door to purchase fresh loaves of sourdough bread from Carmine Bakery; owned by Paolo and Donato’s brother.
Underpinned by quality and authenticity, Gran Caffè, which translates to ‘Great Coffee’, was created by Paolo and Donato out of a love for the rich atmosphere that can be found in every Italian coffee house, transporting the strong coffee culture of the Italian homeland to the city of Liverpool.
It’s home to its signature breakfast pastries that are handcrafted in-house and baked fresh each day by their talented pastry team that is headed up by Donato’s wife Antonietta, as well as a selection of brunch dishes including a Full English, Avocado Toast, Benedicts and more, all served with a Gran Caffè twist; on their signature croissants.

From 12-8pm, Gran Caffè’s brunch menu continues until the evening, serving authentic pasta dishes including lasagna and tagliatelle bolognese, as well as a selection of Italian, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes such as bruschettas, arancini, focaccias and calamari.
Donato Cillo, co-owner of Gran Caffè, said: “Paolo and I are incredibly proud to open our fourth site in Liverpool and be part of the development of the surrounding area around Jesse Hartley Way and Bramley Moore Dock. It’s a fantastic time for this part of town and we’re very excited to be part of it. Gran Caffè is renowned for its quality coffee, signature croissants and brunch dishes and award-winning gelato, and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming familiar faces as well as new guests to our latest site.”
Paolo Cillo, co-owner of Gran Caffè, added: “The last 12 months have been transformational for Gran Caffè. After having our flagship site in Williamson Square for over a decade, it was the right time for us to expand into other areas of the city centre and beyond in South Liverpool, and we can’t wait to introduce Gran Caffè to Park Central in early 2025.”
