Picante Is Back: The Mexican Cantina Reopens at Cains Brewery Village This March
Picante is turning up the heat once again as the Mexican-inspired cantina returns to Liverpool for its highly anticipated second season.
After capturing the city’s imagination in 2025 with its vibrant colours, fiery flavours and next-level margaritas, Picante is heading back to Cains Brewery Village, launching on Friday 13th March with an even bigger programme of tequila tastings, daytime parties, new dishes, cocktails and the return of its much-loved Margarita Masterclasses.
Bringing a fun and fiery taste of Guadalajara to the Baltic Triangle, Picante’s unique blend of margarita mecca, street-food hotspot and Latin house party quickly became a go-to destination last year. Now, the team are ready to kick-start spring in style, serving up their signature high-energy atmosphere infused with plentiful agave.

What’s new for 2026
This season sees the introduction of Bottomless Brunch, Bottomless Wing Wednesday, 20% off back bar drinks every Thursday and Happy Hour every day after 8pm. Picante will also be showing World Cup games throughout June and July, while sun-soaked daytime parties will take over the Más terrace across the summer, featuring both externally promoted events and in-house sessions.
There’s plenty new on the menu, too. Cocktail highlights include the Hot Honey Daisy, Churros Old Fashioned, Baja Blast and Mexican Wave, alongside £5 Mini Dirti Margatinis and 90 minutes of Bottomless Micheladas and Bloody Marias during brunch.
From the kitchen, fresh additions include the Coconut Shrimp Taco, Vegan Birria Taco, crispy chicharrone and jalapeño poppers, plus a Mc-Apple Pie Quesadilla for dessert. These join Picante’s extensive range of tequilas, classic and bespoke cocktails, Mexican beers and its much-loved selection of light bites and sweet treats.
Margarita Masterclasses & Tequila Tasting Fridays
Picante’s Margarita Masterclasses are back, hosted by Cocktail Kate. Each 90-minute Saturday session (2pm–3:30pm and 4pm–5:30pm, March to October) explores how margaritas conquered the world, with guests crafting three margaritas from scratch. Each ticket (£45 per person) includes four margaritas, one tequila taster and a plate of quesadillas.
New for this season are monthly Tequila Tasting Fridays. For £20 (for two guests), visitors receive a margarita on arrival, three tequila tastings (Blanco, Reposado and Añejo) and a 30-minute masterclass on how tequila is produced. Guests can arrive any time between 6pm and 8:30pm.
The team behind Picante

Picante is the brainchild of four of Liverpool’s independent hospitality figures: Joe Wild (Taco or Don’t), Kate Meehan (Paloma Café and Gin Journey), Sally Jo Whitlow (Jenny’s Bar) and Danny Murphy (formerly of Berry & Rye, Aloha, Botanical Garden and Some Place).
Danny Murphy said: “Our debut season with Picante exceeded all of our expectations – we absolutely loved introducing our Mexican cantina concept to the city in 2025 and genuinely we were blown away by how much people loved it. The feedback has been truly wonderful since day one and we can’t thank everyone enough for their support for Picante.
“And now for 2026, we’re coming back bigger and better, with new dishes and cocktails to try, monthly Tequila Tasting Fridays sessions, Kate’s back with her Margarita masterclasses and we will have day parties up on the Más terrace. We’re bringing back the high energy, fiery fun and warmly welcoming Picante vibes, perfect for the forthcoming spring and summer seasons – and hopefully we get lots of sunshine, too! Don’t forget Picante means spicy in Spanish, and that’s exactly what we’re all about, bringing the heat to Liverpool again from Friday March 13th.”
