
New Bird Kitchen Serves Up Creative, Sustainable Food in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle
Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle is about to gain a fresh culinary hotspot with the launch of New Bird Kitchen (NBK), a creative, sustainable grab-and-go eatery opening at 7:30am on Tuesday 30 September.
Founded by celebrity stylist Lorraine McCulloch and film and TV costume designer Jan Simpson, NBK brings the pair’s creative backgrounds into a new venture centred on community, sustainability, and high-quality food.
The menu features nourishing breakfast and lunch options made with organic, free-range, and seed-oil-free ingredients. Highlights include overnight oats, toasted sourdough, wholesome salads, sandwiches, and freshly baked cookies and cakes. For those looking to share, NBK also offers pre-ordered charcuterie and cheese boxes, packed with deli meats, cheeses, pickles, olives, seasonal fruit, chutney, and focaccia. A thoughtful drinks menu completes the offering, with fairtrade Costa Rican coffee, local teas, matcha, hojicha, and kombucha.

“We believe food is more than fuel; it’s about connection, creativity, and community,” said McCulloch. “With NBK, we want to make high-quality food both accessible and impactful, supporting local suppliers and creating opportunities within Liverpool.”
Situated in a container kitchen at 61 New Bird Street, the project was supported by cultural leaders Jayne Casey and Eric Gooden of District, who provided the space to bring the vision to life.

NBK is also focused on creating jobs, nurturing young culinary talent, and strengthening ties with local farmers and producers. Looking ahead, the team plans to host events and collaborations, positioning the kitchen as a vibrant hub for sustainable dining in the Baltic Triangle.
