Bakchich Restaurant Review
Bakchich on Bold Street made a vibrant return to the Liverpool food scene following a stunning refurbishment. Briefly closing their doors in March and reopening a month later in April the transformation is stunning.
We were invited down to check out the refreshed interiors and try their updated menu – and we left seriously impressed.
The space is now brighter, more spacious, and still full of the character and colour Bakchich is known for, blending traditional Middle Eastern style with a modern, street-food edge.
To start, we ordered drinks: a classic Mojito and a Strawberry Mojito Mocktail. Both were incredibly fresh and cooling, packed with mint and citrus – the perfect way to kick off a summer dinner.
The menu at Bakchich offers plenty of variety – whether you’re after a light bite, a sharing feast, or a comforting solo meal. Alongside the dishes we tried, you’ll find Lebanese wraps filled with falafel, lamb kofta, or sujuk (spicy sausage), as well as mezze plates ideal for grazing – from hummus and baba ghanoush to makanik (spiced lamb sausages) and batata harra (spicy potatoes). There’s also a great range of grilled meats and hearty mains, including Shish Taouk, Lamb Meshwi, and Mixed Grill platters served with rice or fries, salad, and dips.

There’s a real focus on fresh ingredients, bold spices, and generous portions throughout the menu. You can easily build a meal around your tastes, whether you’re after vegetarian options, gluten-free dishes, or full-on feasting.
Food-wise, everything arrived quickly and was presented beautifully. We went for the Halloumi Tacos and the Chicken Shawarma Tacos, both served with a flavour-packed combo of salad, garlic sauce, harissa and pickles. They were bursting with flavour, the chicken juicy and spiced, and the halloumi perfectly grilled with that salty, chewy bite.
One of the highlights was the Roasted Cauliflower, served with tahini, labneh, fresh herbs, oil and a scattering of pomegranate seeds. It was creamy, earthy, and tangy – a real standout for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. It comes served with delicious fresh pitta bread which is perfect for mopping up all of the sauces.

We also tried the Kibbeh Shamiya – a traditional Syrian lamb croquette. These golden, crisp parcels were fried to perfection and filled with well-seasoned meat, making them both comforting and packed with depth.
For dessert, we shared the Tahini Brownie and the Dubai Kunafa Chocolate Cake, both served with a scoop of ice cream on the side. The portions were huge – a genuine surprise – and every bite was rich, indulgent, and delicious.
And Bakchich isn’t just for lunch or dinner – they also serve a dedicated breakfast menu, featuring Middle Eastern twists on morning favourites. Think Lebanese Breakfast Platters, Shakshuka with baked eggs and tomato, Manakeesh Flatbreads topped with za’atar, cheese or spiced meats, and even Bakchich’s Arabic Breakfast, a full spread of falafel, labneh, hummus, halloumi, olives, and pitta to start your day the right way. There’s also coffee, fresh juices, and sweet treats like Lotus French Toast for something a little more indulgent.

Overall, the food at Bakchich is packed with authentic flavour, cooked with care, and served in a welcoming and stylish space. Even though there are so many incredible independent restaurants on Bold Street, Bakchich is somewhere we’ll visit time and time again.
Whether you’re after a quick bite or a full spread of Middle Eastern delights, the new-look Bakchich is well worth a visit.
