The Baltic Social is a firm favourite in the heart of the Baltic Triangle and known for serving up some of the best breakfasts in town, as well as a fresh new day and evening menu every season, I was quite literally drooling from the mouth when I read up about their ‘Punk Afternoon Tea’. And with friends telling me about their experience of when they last visited, I was eager to try it for myself.
Unlike any other ordinary afternoon tea, the Baltic Social has that homely kind of feel, you don’t need to be dressed up to the 9’s to feel like you belong in the place. And some even better news for you, it’s an independent bar! Which means if you have registered with independent Liverpool and have your loyalty card, you will get a percentage off your bill.
The service was brilliant, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and escorted to our reserved table, the lady told us a little about what was on offer and brought us over a tea pot full of rum punch and 2 china tea cups and everyone’s all-time favourite salted popcorn in a tin.
We were served quite quickly, all eyes were on our food as it was brought over. The food varied from miniature hot dogs, burgers, crispy fried onion rings, salt and pepper pretzels, cakes, macaroons, haribo sweets, lollipops and a big batch of Cajun coriander fries. And for the cherry on the top – a tea pot of gin, rum or vodka cocktail, mocktail or beer at £17.95 per person. They also offer a vegetarian option for afternoon tea.
