New Liverpool Christmas Ice Rink Skate St George’s To Open At St George’s Plateau
Liverpool is getting a new place to skate this Christmas. Skate St George’s will bring an open-air ice rink, Christmas market and live entertainment to St George’s Plateau from Saturday 21 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027.
The event is free to visit, so you can browse the market, pick up something festive to eat or drink and enjoy the atmosphere without booking a skating session. Tickets are available separately for the ice rink and selected additional attractions.
The rink will sit at the heart of the event, with festive lights and music accompanying skating sessions throughout the day and evening. Whether you’re planning a family outing, meeting friends or looking for a Christmas date idea, it’s a chance to see one of Liverpool’s best-known landmarks in a new light.
Skate St George’s will also feature Winter Windows, an art project for schools across the Liverpool City Region. Inspired by A Christmas Carol, pupils will create festive artwork in the style of stained glass. Twenty winning designs will be illuminated and displayed at the event.
This is the first time entertainment company Underbelly has brought its Skate event to Liverpool. Its director, Ed Bartlam, said: “St George’s Plateau is a spectacular location and the perfect setting for people to come together, take to the ice and enjoy the festive atmosphere.”

Skate St George’s runs at St George’s Plateau, Liverpool, from 21 November 2026 to 3 January 2027. Opening hours are listed as 10am to 10pm.
Ice rink tickets start at £11.50 for adults and £10 for children, with family tickets available from £38. Bookings are available through the Skate St George’s website.
