Liverpool 24-Hour Run Against Homelessness to Raise Funds for The Whitechapel Centre

Liverpool runners, walkers and community groups are being invited to take part in the city’s first 24 Hour Run Against Homelessness, raising money for The Whitechapel Centre.

Taking place from Saturday 17 October to Sunday 18 October 2026, the 24-hour relay will bring people together for a continuous day-and-night challenge in support of people experiencing homelessness across Liverpool.

Starting and finishing at Moose Coffee on William Jessop Way, the event runs from 12pm on Saturday through to 12pm on Sunday.

Unlike a traditional race, there’s no requirement to complete a particular distance. Participants can join at any point during the 24 hours and run or walk as many – or as few – laps as they like.

There’s also no registration fee, making the event open to everyone from experienced runners and running clubs to casual joggers, workplace teams, community groups and anyone simply looking to get involved for a good cause.

Organisers are hoping the Liverpool event will raise £5,000 for The Whitechapel Centre, which supports people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across the city.

Open 365 days a year, the Liverpool charity provides a wide range of services including outreach, housing advice, health and wellbeing support and projects designed to help people develop the skills they need to live independently.

Every £30 raised can help provide a warm bed and wraparound support for someone facing homelessness, meaning every donation – and every lap – can make a difference.

Fundraising isn’t compulsory, but participants are encouraged to seek sponsorship or make a donation if they are able to.

The 24 Hour Run Against Homelessness began as a student-led event in Manchester in 2019 and has since grown into a wider movement.

Events are also taking place in Manchester, Birmingham and Hereford in 2026, alongside Liverpool’s first edition.

Since the initiative began, more than £190,000 has been raised for homelessness charities, with the Liverpool event now hoping to add another £5,000 to that total.

Whether you fancy challenging yourself with a serious distance, joining friends for a few laps or simply walking part of the route, the format means people can take part in whatever way works for them.
