Africa Oyé Announces 2027 Dates as Liverpool Festival Prepares to Celebrate 35 Years
Africa Oyé has announced the dates for its 2027 festival in Liverpool, with the much-loved celebration of African and Caribbean music and culture set to mark its 35th anniversary next summer.
The festival will return to Sefton Park on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 June 2027, with limited earlybird tickets now on sale.
The announcement follows a hugely successful 2026 festival, which saw more than 20,000 people head to Sefton Park across the weekend as Africa Oyé made the significant move from its historic free-entry model to a ticketed event.
Despite the change, the festival retained the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere that has made it a firm fixture in Liverpool’s cultural calendar, with Saturday completely selling out.
Next year’s festival will be a particularly special edition, marking 35 years since Africa Oyé began bringing African and Caribbean music and culture to audiences in Liverpool.
Paul Duhaney, Artistic Director of Africa Oyé, said:
“We didn’t know what to expect this year making the transition from a free event to a ticketed one and it was truly emotional to see so many people come along for the ride with us on this new journey.
“We’ve kept the ticket prices as affordable as possible for next year and can’t wait to do it all over again in summer 2027 as we celebrate 35 years of Oyé.”
The full 2027 line-up is still to be announced, but festivalgoers can expect another eclectic programme celebrating music and culture from across Africa and the Diaspora.
International performers will be joined by emerging local talent and community performances, while the popular Oyé DJ Stage will also return.
Away from the live music, the festival’s Family Zone will once again offer workshops and activities for all ages. The Oyé Village will feature more than 90 stalls offering world food, arts, crafts and more throughout the weekend.
Africa Oyé’s 2026 return featured a major international line-up including Nigerian Afrobeats star Patoranking, Malian singer-songwriter Fatoumata Diawara and British reggae icon Janet Kay.
The strength of demand saw Saturday’s festival sell out, with those leaving it until the last minute unable to secure tickets.
Organisers will now be hoping to build on that success with an even bigger celebration for the festival’s landmark anniversary.
Africa Oyé 2027 Tickets
Earlybird tickets have been released for the 2027 festival, with Liverpool City Region resident tickets starting from £12. Children’s tickets start at £2.50, while under-fives can attend for free.
