Liverpool FC Opens Premier League-First Permanent Mental Wellbeing Hub at Anfield
Liverpool FC has officially opened a pioneering permanent mental wellbeing hub at Anfield, providing supporters with a safe place to talk, connect and access specialist support on matchdays.
The new Kicking Off Conversations hub is the first permanent facility of its kind at a Premier League or Women’s Super League stadium and will be run by the club’s official charity, LFC Foundation, alongside the LFC Safeguarding team.
Located at the corner of 97 Avenue outside Anfield Stadium, the hub has been created to offer confidential and non-judgemental support to supporters who may be struggling with their mental health, experiencing suicidal thoughts, worried about somebody else or simply in need of someone to talk to.
The permanent facility has been made possible thanks to £25,000 in funding from Forever Reds, Liverpool FC’s official former players association.
Former Reds Becky Easton, David Fairclough and John Barnes officially opened the hub ahead of Liverpool’s game against Fulham, which is dedicated to the Premier League’s Together Against Suicide campaign.
A Permanent Place For Support At Anfield
The initiative comes amid stark figures surrounding suicide and mental health in the UK. Someone in the UK takes their own life every 90 minutes, while one in four people will experience suicidal thoughts during their lifetime.
Liverpool FC was one of 11 clubs involved in a pilot support programme last season, which helped shape the Premier League’s decision to fund tailored fan support across all 20 clubs from the 2026/27 season.
At Anfield, that matchday support is now becoming a permanent presence. The Kicking Off Conversations hub brings together safeguarding stewards, mental health professionals and trained LFC Foundation staff.
As well as providing a space where people can talk confidentially, staff can offer practical support and direct visitors towards specialist organisations and services where further help is required.
Matt Parish, chief executive at LFC Foundation, said: “Making this hub a permanent fixture at Anfield on matchdays is testimony to how seriously we take this issue with the awful reality right now that someone in the UK takes their own life every 90 minutes.
“We want our supporters to know that they do not have to face difficult moments alone, and that there is always a place at Anfield where they can come and talk in a safe and welcoming environment.”
LFC Foundation Expands Suicide Support
Alongside the new hub, LFC Foundation is working with Alfie’s Squad to introduce Support Around the Seat, a tailored resource designed to help supporters, families and club staff find appropriate support following a suicide.
The Liverpool-specific resource brings together trusted local and national organisations, creating clearer routes to help for people struggling with their mental health, those affected by suicide and anyone concerned about somebody else.
