Euro Summer: Liverpool Exhibition Celebrates the Power of Women in Football and Community

Creative studio Dorothy in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle are hosting an exhibition, Euro Summer, curated by Nali Simukulwa – celebrating players, fans, and creatives in women’s football – and there’s no better time for it. Just last night, England Women were crowned champions of Euro 2025, marking another historic milestone for the Lionesses and women’s sport.

Since the Lionesses brought football home in 2022, Women’s football has grown exponentially both in England and around the world, and with the UEFA Women’s Euros, Africa Cup of Nations and Rugby World Cup all taking place, now is the perfect time to celebrate the culture and achievements of women in sports.

Showcased in the exhibition the work of Liverpool-based creatives working across sports and culture, including photographer Caitlin Marie Sullivan, social storytellers, zine makers and photographers GIRLFANS (Jacqui McAssey and Zöe Hitchen), Visual Artist, Ufuoma and writer Nali Simukulwa.

The studio show opening weekend was a hit with local footy fans, who gathered to watch England take on France in their opening game of the competition- marking the start of summer-long celebration of community.

Euro Summer creates a space for people to connect with the women’s game beyond the digital world — showcasing the importance of recreating online spaces in real life, for women’s football communities to blossom into in-person experiences that strengthen and grow the community.

The show, which is open until 1 August champions Liverpool’s rich local footballing history and shines a light on the global women’s game, celebrating how far it has come and how much further we have to go. More information available from our blog here.

Euro Summer runs until Friday, August 1st at Dorothy’s studio, located at 22 Jordan Street, Liverpool, L1 0BP. The exhibition is open Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, and entry is free.
