What's On In Liverpool This Christmas
Christmas has arrived in Liverpool and there are a whole host of festive events just around the corner guaranteed to get the whole family in the mood for the big day.
Open now until 4th January; This month saw the return of the Liverpool ONE Ice Festival, which promises to be the biggest and best to date.
It gives visitors the chance to show off their skating skills on the urban ice rink. Families can also enjoy festive rides and glide down the largest real ice slide in the UK, while shoppers looking for a break from Christmas shopping can relax in the Après Café Bar or sip ice cold shots in the enchanting Ice Bar.
From Thursday 20th November:
Thursday 20th November sees the lighting up of the Church Street Christmas Tree, as well as the launch of the ‘Snowflake Trail’, which will run until 28th December.
Jack Frost will transform the city centre into a frozen wonderland of festive fun for the whole family. People can follow his Snowflake Trail across the city, enjoying sculptures, light projections, street art and magical window displays in some of Liverpool’s best shopping spaces.
Revellers can get involved by picking up a trail map and solving the clues along the way, to be in with a chance of winning amazing prizes.
The city will also play host to ‘Alive after Five’ every Thursdays from the 20th, with a different event planned each week. Shopping hours at Liverpool One will also be extended to 9pm weekdays, to give those with busy lives a chance to get their Christmas shopping done.
To top the celebrations off, the ever popular continental and Christmas food markets also open on the same evening (20th November), based on Lord Street, Paradise Street and Williamson Square.
Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th; will mark the start of the Albert Dock’s Christmas festivities, including choirs and street theatre, and roast chestnuts. Shoppers can unwind with a hot chocolate or mulled wine while overlooking the stunning views of the waterfront.
And one of the big highlights this festive season will be Tate Liverpool’s spectacular new exhibition – Transmitting Andy Warhol (7 November – 8 February) – which brings together over 100 artworks from one of the most influential, controversial and notorious artists of the twentieth century.
Thursday 18th December; On December 18, Blues fans can enjoy an Everton Blue Christmas procession through town.
