Liverpool Business College Kicks Off Partnership with Everton Football College
A brand new educational institution in the heart of Liverpool is teaming up with Everton Football College to offer students the chance to combine their passion for football with a top-tier business education.
Liverpool Business College, set to open its doors in September 2025, has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Everton Football College. As part of the collaboration, students will play full-time for Everton Football College while studying for a Pearson Level 3 Business Extended Diploma – equivalent to three A Levels – at the new college located on Chapel Street in Liverpool City Centre.
The initiative is the brainchild of James Quinn, a father-of-three from Huyton and former Premier League academy coach, who launched Liverpool Business College in 2024 after identifying a gap in the education system for young people interested in business and real-world learning.
“I was frustrated by the lack of innovation in further education when my son was looking to study business,” said James, 38. “Liverpool Business College has been designed by entrepreneurs for future entrepreneurs. The partnership with Everton Football College means students don’t have to choose between sport and education — they can pursue both.”
With a strong focus on real-life work experience and business masterclasses led by local entrepreneurs, Liverpool Business College aims to equip students with both academic knowledge and the practical tools needed for a successful career in business.
In the 2025/26 academic year, 10 students will begin the dual programme, gaining access to high-level football training while developing key business skills. Players will train several times a week and may represent Everton Football College on international tours to destinations such as Dallas, New York, Chile, and Spain.
James, who has spent nearly two decades running businesses in the sports education sector, added: “Not everyone makes it in professional football. This programme provides a strong plan B – a business diploma that can be applied to a wide range of careers.”
Carl Giles, Assistant Head at Everton Football College, echoed this sentiment: “We’re thrilled to be working with Liverpool Business College. This partnership reflects the ambitions of our students and the needs of the regional economy. It will help them develop the skills and behaviours they need to thrive in both sport and the business world.”
The college will welcome its first intake of 50 students in September 2025.
