Picante Announces Margarita Masterclasses Starting in May

Picante, the vibrant Mexican-inspired cantina that’s shaken up Liverpool’s nightlife since opening in March, has announced a new Margarita Masterclass series launching on Saturday 3 May. But fans of tacos, tequila, and terrace vibes should act fast – the venue is set to close at the end of September.

Located in Cains Brewery Village, Picante has quickly earned a reputation for its buzzing weekend atmosphere, authentic flavours, and tequila-fuelled fun – boasting over 40 varieties of the spirit behind the bar. Now, just in time for summer, the cantina is adding another string to its bow with the launch of its rooftop terrace, Más, also opening on 3 May.

The weekly Margarita Masterclasses, hosted every Saturday from 2pm – 3.30pm, are led by industry expert and Picante co-founder Kate Meehan, whose impressive career spans over 20 years in Liverpool and London’s bar scene. Guests can expect to enjoy four Margarita cocktails, create a round of drinks themselves, savour a plate of quesadillas, sample tequila tastings, and learn about the history of the iconic cocktail.

Kate, who previously launched a successful masterclass series in East London, says:
“Launching our new Margarita Masterclass at Picante feels really special and I can’t wait to welcome everyone and introduce them to the wonderful world of tequila at our home in Cains Brewery Village.”

Kate’s extensive experience includes running the award-winning Gin Journey tours, working as an assistant distiller in Hackney and Palma, and collaborating with Jamie Oliver’s Drinks Tube.

To mark the rooftop opening and the start of the Margarita sessions, Picante is throwing a Cinco De Mayo Bank Holiday party on Monday 5 May from midday to 8pm, promising DJs, piñatas, tacos, and – of course – Margaritas.

Picante, housed in the former Dockleaf site, is a love letter to the cantinas of Guadalajara, complete with colourful hand-painted signs, original architectural details, and weekend DJ sets on the terrace to keep the party going all summer long.
