Paint Me In Colour’s ‘Happy’ Delivers a Raw, Defiant Anthem

Liverpool’s Paint Me In Colour return with Happy, a defiant alt-rock anthem that looks on the weight of self-expectation in a world that never stops demanding more. Known for their dynamic blend of alternative rock and personal storytelling, the four-piece outfit have once again delivered, bringing a track that is as thought-provoking as it is infectious.

From the opening lines, Happy wastes no time cutting straight to the core. The lyrics—”I want to be skinny; I want to be healthy; I want lots of money and never have to worry“—lay bare the relentless cycle of self-improvement culture. It’s an internal monologue that feels all too familiar, but Paint Me In Colour refuse to let the message drown in despair. Instead, they wrap their frustrations in driving guitars, soaring melodies, and anthemic choruses, creating a song that feels like both a cry for help and a release at the same time.

Taking cues from the likes of Kid Kapichi and the scope of Nothing But Thieves, the band balances raw emotion with electrifying energy. The self-produced track is polished but not over-refined, keeping the edges sharp and the message clear. There’s a punchy urgency to Happy, a rallying cry for anyone who has ever felt like they’re falling behind in a race they never signed up for.

Following the success of previous releases like Pity Me and Pick Me Up, their latest release sees Paint Me In Colour evolving. With a growing fanbase and unwavering momentum, this is a band that’s proving honesty hits the hardest.

Paint Me In Colour embark on a spring 2025 tour calling at Birmingham, London, Brighton, Southampton and Nottingham throughout May, before playing Liverpool’s A.R.C (Greenland St) on 7 June. Tickets are on sale now at SeeTickets.
