Explore tea rituals and art with LEAF’s resident tea guru, Tea Tony at the Immersive Tea Experience.
LEAF know a thing or two about tea – it’s very much in their DNA. From creating a punk tea-shop in Liverpool over 15 years ago as a counter-balance to more traditional affairs, to embracing tea rituals and its culture as a way of being, tea is certainly enjoying its renaissance in the city. And this is being further celebrated by LEAF with their forthcoming Immersive Tea Experience on Monday 24 February at Bold Street.
The benefits of loose-leaf tea continue to proliferate. From unwinding at the end of a long day to antioxidant-rich brews, and from sleep-inspiring concoctions to delicious winter remedies, there’s pretty much no limits what can be created.
The team at LEAF take immense pride in their tea service and their creative cuppas. They serve close to 100 loose-leaf varieties (they also have lots of very good coffee, too), and it’s their resident tea-guru, Tea Tony, who is the man behind their quintessentially UK drink which LEAF has been invigorating with new life in Liverpool.
Tony manages LEAF’s tea department, from creating new brews – for example, the Cold Remedy Brew, packed with goodness including Yin Zhen tea leaves, ginger root, lemongrass, peppermint and lemon peel – to the mail order service. If there’s anything Tony doesn’t know about tea, well, it must be rare, as his passion for everything of a loose-leafed variety shines through.
So much so, that Tony is back with the second Immersive Tea Experience in partnership with Echo Chamber curating the immersive sound. The session lasts two hours, with the final 20 minutes for the guided tea experience. Music and sound effects will be played throughout to enhance the intimate experience, as well as the chance to get creative.
Tony explains: “Our new concept is back for its second session at LEAF, inspired by guided meditation but with the addition of a cup of our lovely high-quality loose-leaf tea. Participants will be immersed in state of the art audio with Echo Chamber who install 360 sound systems for incredible sensory experiences. Tea and wellness go hand in hand, and art plays a huge part in wellness so it’s a perfect fit for LEAF. We’re encouraging guests to get creative on the canvases we will have at the event I’m really hoping beyond this, guests will embrace the ritualised side of tea, setting aside some time each day to focus inward. The brewing time for loose leaf tea is perfect to do this and become a positive habit in people’s daily lives.”
The session includes:
- Guided Tea Ritual with Tony (LEAF’s very own loose leaf tea expert) – The session finishes with the immersive tea experience with a guided tea ritual *Tea included*
- Abstract Painting Workshop Station – Guests are welcome to use the provided art supplies and materials to create abstract pieces of workthat reflect on the sound space of the room. The main aim of this is to facilitate a creative space for guests.
- Tea Blending Station – Guests can create their own blend of tea and leave with a free sample of your creation.
- Tea On Tap – Unlimited refills of 3 carefully selected teas by Tea Tony for guests attending the event.
- 12 Speaker Immersive Surround Sound System – Guests will be transported as soon as entering the room with a state of the art 360-degree surround sound system provided by immersive audio specialists – Echo Chamber.
