Indian Tiffin Room Supports Paul McCartney Family Meat Free Monday Campaign
One of Liverpool’s favourite Indian street food restaurants, Indian Tiffin Room on Duke Street, is making a real commitment to the Meat Free Monday campaign, launched by Paul, Mary and Stella McCartney in 2009.
A special Meat Free Monday menu, featuring over 40 dishes, including a variety of Indian Tiffin Room favourites such as Vada Pav, Gobi Manchurian, Puri and the venues famous Dosa is available to help diners take a small step towards a healthier week.
The not-for-profit campaign encourages people to help slow down climate change, conserve precious natural resources and improve their health by having at least one plant-based day each week.
The stunning venue on Duke Street, which opened in January boasts an extensive menu and is currently receiving rave reviews and return visits from impressed diners.
The group, founded by Srini Sundaram and Suresh Raje Urs in 2013, will be the first non-vegetarian restaurant group in the UK to support the Meat Free Monday organisation by offering an optional extensive completely meat-free menu in all of their locations every Monday.
“As a new venue in Liverpool, we are delighted to be supporting a campaign launched by one of the city’s most famous sons. Here at Indian Tiffin Room, we are proud of the Indian heritage that flows through our food, and we love vegetarian dishes that deliver incredible flavours. Indian street food has been less reliant on meat for centuries”, said Indian Tiffin room co-founder Suresh Raje Urs.
“Since we opened, our menu has been around 70% meat-free, offering a vast selection of dishes for people choosing to live vegetarian and vegan lifestyles, so this move to a Meat Free Monday was an obvious progression for us. We want to make it easy for people to make a healthy choice and have a great meal out at the same time. We’re hoping others will follow, and in fact, we want to lead the charge hoping all UK restaurants will raise awareness for the Meat Free Monday campaign” added co-founder Srini Sundaram.
According to Meat Free Monday, if all of us in the UK did Meat Free Monday for a year, we would collectively save an area of the world’s forest the size of all the national parks in England and Wales combined, not to mention save the same amount of greenhouse gases as emitted by driving 20 billion km.
So whether you are thinking about making a permanent plant based change, are a vegetarian who likes the idea of a whole menu to choose from, or would like to support the Meat Free Monday movement, you won’t find a better menu to order from! For non-vegetarian diners the a la carte menu is also available for guests to order from.
