Christmas Is Coming: How To Get Ready For The Festive Season Early

If there’s one thing guaranteed every festive season, it’s that Christmas will come around much quicker than you think! So, while it might only be October, it’s always a great idea to start planning ahead for Christmas 2023.

Not only can getting ready for the festive season early help you save money, but it also means you’ll be a lot more organised and can enjoy some much-needed downtime before the celebrations well and truly start to kick in.

Start saving now

Christmas is undoubtedly one of the most expensive times of the year. Aside from buying everyone presents, you also need to consider the cost of food for the festive season, and also order a fair few outfits for the all-important work Christmas party!

Putting aside a few extra pounds a week between now and December will mean you have more money to play around with when you need to attack those Christmas present lists.

Buy your decorations

If you’ve had the same old Christmas decorations for years now, chances are they might need a little refresh. But don’t wait for all the good ones to go! Buying your decor early means you’ll get the best pick of the bunch.

Don’t forget about the front of your house, too. Some outdoor Christmas lights, or even Christmas figures to light up your home, can make it look festive from the first impression.

Start present shopping early

Buying your Christmas presents early takes the monetary burden off. Sale periods like Autumn sales and Black Friday mean you can get great gifts at great prices. You can even split payments over the next year so you don’t have to pay off any big-ticket items all in one go.

Get your diary organised

If you’ve been left as the designated organiser this Christmas, getting your diary up to date will ensure everything goes off without a hitch. Things to double-check usually include:

  • Who is coming for Christmas dinner
  • Any guest dietary requirements
  • Christmas events at school/Work Christmas parties
  • Plans for New Year’s Eve
  • When school term starts again

Get your Christmas cards early

The sooner you send your Christmas cards, the longer friends and family can have your face up on their mantelpiece. Sorting out your Christmas cards early will prevent you from getting stuck in the big Christmas card backlog, especially if you’re planning to send personalised Christmas photo cards!

And remember, Santa also appreciates getting his present lists in advance, too…

The holiday season is pretty nonstop. By starting the planning early, you can enjoy some much-needed downtime before the craziness begins. Because no one has ever said they regretted planning Christmas so early.
