Lively northern, indie rock 4-piece Bandit will be playing at Sound City this year, so we caught up with them to talk about their music, performing live and what 2022 has in store for them.
Liverpool Noise: For anyone reading this who might not know who you are, how would you best describe yourselves as a band?
Bandit: Y’alreet mon cheri’s, we are Bandit. We’re the indie poster boys, but we’re on the darker end of the indie spectrum, so tinges of punk and grunge in there. We’re a lovely bunch of Northern boys and not to mention the world class stones in your shoe, only the best kind of course. We get compared to the likes of Cage The Elephant and Fontaines DC if John Cooper Clarke was doing the singing.
LN: Where are you and what are you up to right now?
Bandit: At the minute I’m writing this from the comfort of my sofa with a brew, however, in a band sense we’ve just released our debut EP, yes that’s right DEBUT EP – Here’s To Being Alive. So whilst riding on the high of a larger body of work being out, we’re working on the next lot of tunes, working on making them bigger, badder and better than the last so be sure to have a listen.
LN: Are you looking forward to performing at Sound City?
Bandit: OH AYE, we absolutely f*ckin love Sound City, last year’s in October could potentially be one of the best weekends we’ve had. We had the pleasure of supporting the Snuts last year in the Arts Club theatre and had an absolute blast. The thing I think is class about Sound City is the fact it unites the city, it brings all these music heads out and no matter rain or shine, we’re all in the venues, pints in hand watching bands.

LN: And who are you looking forward to seeing perform at Sound City?
Bandit: There’s a fair bloody few I’ll tell you that now. Proper looking forward to seeing Yard Act I think they’re top. Looking forward to seeing the lovely hunks that are the Reytons, we’ve done a few dates supporting those beautiful bastards and they always get the crowd pumping. We’re looking forward to seeing Royston Club too, I think they’re great and heard only the best of things from our producer. Also wanting to see Cassia and Tom A Smith (voice of a demigod).
LN: What do you enjoy most about performing live?
Bandit: For me it’s the atmosphere and the vibe with these lovely people that have come down to watch you, singing the tunes back. It’s a magical feeling when people are vibing, dancing about and getting stuck in! I also love being on stage with the rest of the Bandit indie dreamboats and then the high after playing is just phenomenal as well as when someone comes over, sticks a drink and a big wet kiss on your cheek and goes THAT WAS F*CKING GREAT MAN.
LN: If you had to tell people to go and listen to just one of your songs, which one would you choose?
Bandit: I’d say go listen to Sefton In The Summertime, we’re all out here celebrating for Sound City and it carries a level of proud ethos with it, plus it’s an absolute screamer and you’ll enjoy the anthem for sure.
LN: What else does 2022 have in store for you?
Bandit: 2022 is gonna be a great year, so many great plans are being made at the minute, we’re working on new stuff at the moment to carry on our Bandit adventure and my gosh does it sound meaty, there’s infinite avenues and rivers that we could go down with our writing and sound but by god we’ve found one and we’re rowing down it. Very excited for the rest of the year, we’re back on the road with the Reytons bunch for more shows with them, booked at some more festivals and will have some more headline dates coming so stay tuned in camp Bandit, lots of love.
