Training Programme For Creatives Looking To Set Up Their Own Business Starts In January

Luma Creations is an Arts and Cultural organisation engaging with diverse communities across the Liverpool City Region, helping creatives learn the intricate details of the competitive industry and thrive in the long run.

After seeing the huge success of their previous plan of action, Sustainable Futures – Developing Professional Practice Training Programme will start from Tuesday 18 January 2022 with sessions taking place Tuesdays & Thursdays 10am-12:30pm for 4 weeks at John Archer Hall in Liverpool.

The programme will deliver a series of sessions around project management covering topics such as how to effectively network by getting involved with the right people for career progression, looking at the different forms of funding available and ways of accessing them, most importantly developing one’s creative practise not only in art form but learning how to earn a fair living amongst all.

Training Programme for creatives in Liverpool

Francisco Carrasco FRSA, MA Creative Director & CEO of Luma Creations said the initiative has been a success because directors are actively looking at ways to support cohorts in a targeted way:

“The programme is very grassroots in the sense that it’s people centred, although we have a list of things we cover, every course is different and is led a lot by the needs of the learners because sometimes we get people who are part of the music business, sometimes we get a lot of visual artists, or makers, or dancers, and in that way we try to connect the course and direct in such a way that it is flexible enough for us to focus on the things that a particular learner needs.”

Francisco who has worked in the Arts industry for many years mentioned the experience of his colleagues:

“One of the other things is that most of the people who deliver these sessions are people who have done it themselves, so they understand the practicalities of how you move forward with it.

“There are number of courses out there about how to deliver community workshops and that’s fine but being able to earn a living out of it, so you can do the work that you want to do and still have job security is most important at the end of the day especially in times with Covid.”

If you are DJ, producer, visual artists, entrepreneur, film maker, performer, dancer, facilitator, musician, arts worker, community artist, maker, photographer, designer, aspiring to set up your own venture and gain the skills needed to become a freelancer then this course might be the right fit for you.

Luma Creations will assist creatives by signposting them to a range of professionals and organisations so that they can get involved in spaces to create performances and take part in discussions strengthening their portfolio in the chosen career.
