Wreckfish, Joins Forces With The Merchant For Bank Holiday BBQ

Liverpool is being given the chance to sample a take on Kickstarter restaurant Wreckfish’s menu at The Merchant Bar, Canteen & Garden on 25thAugust with an exclusive first-time collaboration.

Chef owner, Gary Usher, launched an ambitious £200k Kickstarter campaign in May to open a 100-cover restaurant in the Ropewalks area of Liverpool city centre. After exceeding the target with 48 hours to go, Wreckfish is set to launch in autumn 2017.

Taking over The Garden at The Merchant on Slater Street, the Wreckfish team will be serving their take on ‘fast food’.  At the free-to-enter event, guests will enjoy the likes of the restaurant group’s signature parmesan & truffle chips, beef croquettes, braised lamb shoulder with salsa verde, truffle & cheese arincini and chocolate mousse & honeycomb.

Gary Usher comments: “Our friends at The Merchant have offered us a great opportunity to show Liverpool what we’re all about before we open. We’re really looking forward to the 25th to get the word out about Wreckfish and give people a taste of what’s to come.  We’ve had such an amazing welcome in Liverpool already and with work well underway on the Wreckfish building, we just can’t wait to open.”

The Wreckfish x The Merchant event is free admission and no booking is required. Simply turn up between5pm and 9pm to enjoy food from the Wreckfish team, with prices starting from £3 per dish.

The Kickstarter campaign saw the likes of support from top chefs, such as Duck & Waffle’s, Dan Doherty, who will be hosting Wreckfish’s first ever brunch service on 5th November to a sold out crowd, as well as Michelin star chef, Tom Kerridge, who will be hosting another sell-out six-course menu later in the year.
