The Liverpool Comedy Cellar, Liverpool’s newest and coolest comedy club, will open its doors on Saturday 13th September.
Set in the intimate cellar of The Magnet Bar, in the pulsating heart of Hardman Street, the Liverpool Comedy Cellar will feature the cream of the International Comedy Circuit “up close and personal” every Saturday night.
The Magnet is one of Liverpool’s oldest and most iconic music venues where superstars such as Freddie Mercury, Peter Wylie, and the “Cool Ruler” himself, Mr Gregory Isaacs, have performed. Voted by the Guardian newspaper as “The Best Venue in Liverpool”, The Magnet provides the perfect base for the Liverpool Comedy Cellar.
TV names including Gary Delaney, Rob Rouse and Justin Moorhouse, and international stars such as Peter White from Canada and Benny Boot from Australia, are just some of the artists who will be appearing at the comedy club in what is a stellar line-up for the club’s opening season.
Big Comedy UK, producers of the annual Southport Comedy Festival, are the driving force behind this venture. Brendan Riley, director of Big Comedy UK, has over 20 years experience in the industry, both as a comedian and promoter, and was one of the regular compères at the Rawhide Comedy Club.
“I have always enjoyed performing in Liverpool and am very excited to be involved in this project. With its low ceiling and cool vibe, The Magnet is the perfect venue for comedy. It will be a joy to play!” Brendan Riley, Director of Big Comedy UK.
